Hi Evening2. Can honestly say I have not missed posting. Took myself completely off the Sycamore board - could not take anymore of that board or the posters on it. Have missed some of the posters, but when I would sign in and would not have a single pm from anyone -well, I just decided it wasn't worth it anymore.

Hi all,

I do more lurking than posting and have been lurking here at CL for quite awhile before signing up. I was under the impression that this board was shutting down and so I didn't come to it for months then happen to notice the link was still on the CL main page and here you all were. :-)

I've been over at 320 lurking for a few months but it seems a lot friendlier here.

Thanks for that link, Maybaby. That is very interesting. There are SO many waters. I think we should all change our names to reflect our status. You could be Maywater, I could be Evewater, One2water, Zoeywater, FDInLawater, Mikiewater, Sarawater, (sorry if I left out any waters), etc. I just don't think we should let those "waters" take control. I've often wondered why the forum isn't called CrimeWater?

There was a period of time that I couldn't PM ANYONE. A special little "glitch" invented by FW "just" for me. Some sort of "test".

Anyway, I am SO glad to be back with you again. I truly, truly missed you. You were one of the few sane posters ON that board. Some real strangeness over there, that's for sure.

I hope you're here to stay, as long as the waters don't ripple and throw us out, that is. Surf's Up!!

Loretta, I didn't mean to leave you out of the water. I was going from memory only and with all this water, my memory is sopped!

But I've been thinking about your name. Loretta Young was a beautiful actress from times past. So, how about YoungWater? Or Mo-BettaWater? Try a few of them on for size until you find one that fits. lorettabettawater? I think my favorite is One2Water. I wish I could remember using that comment but I can't. I came here asking KINDLY for help why jump down my throat? I am not banned or I could not be posting I had not thought of this place in ages UNTIL I recieved a Birthday Wishes Post in MY email, I came here to say thankyou, then when I saw I was having a problem with My profile I asked this simple question for help. I cannot see where that would get you so upset with me. I thought this place had closed and was delighted to see it had not, I saw some old friends here, I guess I cannot count you in that number. If the ignore button is still here I will use it and if you detest me this much I would suggest you do the same.

Recently, I was told by a mod that I had no business posting in a particular forum. Until now, I thought we could post anywhere, on any forum. I've searched the TC and I can't find where it states we are supposed to look for our assigned forums. Does anyone know where to find this? TIA

Every resident can post where ever they want. If you have an opinion on a case it is no less valid or important than someone who has been posting about the case for a decade. If you were told otherwise - you were told incorrectly.

HIIII Cindy!!! Boy, am I happy to see you here! This place has great posters and it's civil and friendly. Everyone follows the rules on their own. Yeah, I don't like all of those posts that get deleted either. I mean, yes, some that are offensive SHOULD be deleted, but when someone is just expressing their POV or opinion in a professional manner, why in the world are those posts/THREADS even, deleted? And then threads that were started by one poster get attributed to another poster. What's up with that anyway?

I don't know what all is going on over there but I better change and fast if they want their membership to grow. I DO watch the threads and forums there and there is NOT much discussion on any of them. People get tired of the rules being excepted for some.

Anyway, it's great to have you here. I know we'll all have a good time and we'll learn a lot and share a lot as well.

That's a good question, Cindy. And, why were some forums completely deleted from CL BEFORE the move took place? Who has all those posts and where did they go?

As for A or B, I've been posting there for five months and I didn't even know there WAS a B!

Hi Evening2,

The straw that broke the camels back for me was a couple of days ago when Results made the "Please Vote" poll, and then informed us that she didn't think all residents should be voting, just the ones that post on the forum the poll was about...I hate to tell her but her poll affected the whole community and the whole community should have been welcome to vote...And then, when she didn't like the way people were voting, she deleted the poll and went completely against the way the vote was going.
Sycamore claims to be "for the residents".....What a joke!!!
Councilman or not.....I'm outta there for good!!

You know, I SAW that poll but I've been SO musy with the grandbaby that I really have to pick and choose how involved I can get. So, I didn't even bother to look at it! My reaction, of course, would have been the same as yours and I TOO would have voted. That's just not right!

Speaking of what's not right, who was the guy Jack who was posting for a while? He really seemed like he had some good ideas for the forum growth, but when I went to read that thread the other day (Eagle1 had asked about it) everything he posted had been deleted and I think he's been banned. What's THAT all about anyway? (if you know) I read his posts (most of them) and I didn't find anything offensive in them. I wonder why he was banned?

CindyB

Who knows?? It seems if you don't agree with the majority over there, then you're either lying or stupid!!
I didn't remember who Jack was at first. But I remember a post he made that I replied to. Turns out Jack was right. I guess Jack was smarter than me. It took me about 4 months to see what was going on at Sycamore. It only took Jack a few days. LOL

I was lurking here awhile back, Fall maybe? It's been awhile but there was a big long post on here that this board was being shut down because of all the changes taking place involving Crime Library and that the Mod or someone was starting a new board (the one of which we can't speak ;) ) so everyone here could move to it and continue on. I thought it was true so I didn't even try the link for here until the other day when I saw it was on the CL main page still, and discovered it was still working.

Hi Sara! Hubby and I have no children either, but we have a golden retriever and two kitties that we just adore...don't know what we'd do without them...:)

Well thanks Maybaby. I feel better. Seems like all the women I meet here are Moms and Grandmas. Probably think I am silly for loving my cats so much.

Hi Mayberry, (SummerRaine)
Nice to see you! :)
I am so irritated at that place. I can't believe I worked so hard to help them out, just to have them do this. I put a lot of effert into my work in the council.
Oh well....I'll let bygones be bygones and forget about it!
CL seems a lot more laid back anyway!

Nah, we don't think your silly. All of my human babies grew up and left the nest and 3 of the 4 are 500+ miles away so I don't see them or my grand babies very often. That just leaves me, dh, 2 dogs, 2 birds, a few fish, and one cat (who happens to run the house ;) ).

LOL I completely understand the run of the house phrase. I am so sorry grneyes that your kids are so far away. All my dh sisters are near except one is about 500 miles away and everyone misses her so much.

Thank you Sara. It's really difficult sometimes as I am in Canada and my 3 oldest are in the US (where I am from originally) and the way gas prices are going up I probably won't be going home to visit this year. So glad I have my fur and feather babies to keep me busy.

It helps meeting new friends online also.

Yes it does help grneyes I agree. I know what you mean about gas and everything. We have not gone anywhere in 3 years and it sure looks like we are staying at home 2008. But You must really miss your kids and grandkids. I just could not imagine.

I lost two of my furbabies (kitties)...one last September and one in March of this year...I took them in when a neighbor threw them out...she didn't even put out any water for them...:( So they came to live with us and we found out that both had FELV...we did the best we could for them...gave them the best little life they could have...You'd be surprised how much most people love their animals...I have to remind myself that I'm the human, she's the dog...I'm the human, they're the cats...:D

MayBaby I have 2 cockatiels. (pied male and grey female) Birds sure are noisey things aren't they? *lol*

They are approx. 20 years old now and I've had both of them since they were less than a year old. I did have a third one that was breeding with my female but he got caught in one of their toys while we were asleep and unfortunately he didn't survive.

I thought the female might eventually breed with my pied but they never have.

Lynn,l I welcomed you on another thread tonight. But, hello and welcome again.

We have people babies and our animal babies. We have six children, 11 grandchildren, two doggies (one part Shepherd and one little Yorkie), a pondful of fishies, and our youngest daughter has a white pet rat that is just the sweetest little thing you could imagine.

When I get all of the work done on my soon-to-be "new" teeth, we will be heading up to Tennessee to our vacation log cabin. We hope to stay for the entire summer, God willing. My MIL now lives with us so she will also be going, as will our youngest daughter and her little baby who is four months old. So, it looks like we'll be going in mid-June or thereabouts. We'll spend our time fishing at the Tennessee River/Kentucky Lake, bike riding, and just overall relaxing. I can hardly wait to get there. :)

I'm just amazed at how long the birds live...I have a Blue & Gold Macaw...he is 32 years old...still acts like a toddler...into everything...loves to chew on the woodwork...and likes going in the closet to see what he can get into...and I have a Congo African Grey and he is 11 years old...and a Green Cheeked Amazon who is 26 years old...Hubby and I have willed our estate to a sanctuary that will care for them the rest of their lives when we're gone...:)

Sure, Maybaby, there's always room at the Inn. Won't it be fun going fishing in our three-man boat too? Can you bring the three men?;)

It probably wouldn't be too crowded after the larger of the animals kill the smaller ones! Let's start with the fish. Doesn't it go like this? The birds eat the fishies, the cats eat the birds, the dogs eat the cats, and so on? Hey, do you like Pegogie? PLENTY room after all!!

I hope you don't mind me bumping your post again but I really need to address something that I saw taking place over at 320 by the ANS Mod. I just about spewed my dinner after reading her comments about lying and honesty, yada yada. Yeah Results its wrong to tell balled face lies on the forum and privately - particularly the ones you told about me. You know, I have yet to recieve an apology from this so called honest mod over there and to top it all off the admin at 320 condones this sort of behavior by her mods. Go figure!

I want you to all be aware about the time Results and Athena went to another forum other than 320 to chastise and scold 320 members.
Results even went as far as asking a posting member at this other place if he/she were proud for getting the JBR forum at 320 closed. Guess what? The person she was scolding was not even the person she thought it was. I sure feel sorry for that person, I'm sure this person was wondering what the hell was going on - I know I was when I saw what Results and Athena had posted there regarding these 320 members. I'm sure that person never recieved an apology either. Results recent comments in the ANS forum at 320 are below in quotes and my responses follow...

I believe in honesty and I trust people to tell me the truth. snip
You don't win a debate by lying about someone. That is wrong and deep down anyone that doesn't feel that it is wrong to tell a ball face lie well to be honest I don't know what to tell them because I have never been there.
Knowing what I know, I have to ask you how you live with yourself by telling a ball faced lie like that? You've never been there? Bahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa - ummm, ok. :punch: Not.

I do understand why you got upset by that O2S. I was utterly dismayed to see the Sycamore Mods discussing what happened at Sycamore on the Topix board.

There was a lot more to that little sideshow BTW but it seems pretty pointless to rehash it all again. However, I did have my eyes opened somewhat and what I saw was duly noted :-)

As I've always said, a forum is only ever as good as its moderation. Good posters don't always make good moderators and vice versa. I don't know who Riviera was, but she was IMO a very fair moderator who took action against both sides of the JBR forum. It's easier to accept a reprimand if you feel it is an unbiased one. All I have ever asked for is fairness - a level playing field.

It doesn't matter if a person promises the world, at the end of the day, that person will be judged on what they deliver.

BTW - I have read a post by FW which suggests that she is aware of this thread. I am therefore posting in full knowledge and awareness that she may be reading what I write :-)

Why were so many folks made to believe this site was closing?? Was that just something FW told people to get them to go over to 320sycamore?? Or did they really plan to close this site a few months ago?? I'm so confused!!
Now that has always interested me too. I think it has got to be cleared up.

Cindy, you are in good company. Lots of people left and will never go back. As long as those 2 mods are there, it won't be a decent place. Trust me.
I knew from the beginning that it couldn't become decent place with that owner and those mods.
FW was not a fair moderator while she was here (she merely masked as one and sadly, many fell for it), so why should she suddenly change overnight?
Her own place gives her far more room to show her true colors.

I really do not think it is any big mystery. TruTV took over and that meant this thread could close. I think TruTV decided since CL was set up and running already it would be more cost effective to keep it going instead of starting their own. They advertise here all the time.

The Crabby part I think means more like "grouchy" not actual crabs. At least I never saw any on the menu. They have great steaks though. :-)

Might just be a Canadian chain, I'm not real sure.

"EveWater"? What is it with all those waters? I'm feeling a bit 'at sea' here . :)

Boohoo, I wanna be a 'Water' too!! But I'm afraid 'Rashwater' sounds a bit, well, I dunno ... :D

I'd like 'Clearwater' please if it isn't already taken. (j/k) ;)

But to be (a Water) or not to be (a Water): the main thing in true crime dicussion is not to muddy the waters, and go where the evidence leads.

Her's a bit of special water for you all guys!!

To all the Waters and NonWaters: Have a nice start of the week!! :seeya:

Rashie

Rash, I posted some ideas for your Water name just above. I've been TOO busy with the grandbaby to get much else done today. I expect it will continue to be like that throughout the summer. :) :( :)

I thought since many of us have agreed to moderate ourselves and have taken an "oath" (so to speak) to do so, we could add "Water" to each of our names as an aka to indicate this place is self-moderated and who has agreed to participate. We are adding our ~ ourname2 aka ournameWater ~ to our signature. Although there is a moderator on duty, why should she have so much work to do in moderating when we, as adults, should be able to moderate ourselves.

Well, off to watch "The Bachelor"!

Oh, gotcha, grneyes. Around here virtually EVERY place has crabs on the menu, blue crabs, that is. Unfortunately with the price of fuel, they have become nearly unavailable. I understand the crab fishermen from the Gulf are getting $65 per dozen for their blue crab to send them to the east coast these days due to their polluted water.

Well, I can't really be angry. The fishermen work SO hard and often for so little. It used to be they could charge their fuel until after their catch, but with the price of fuel being what it is, they have to pay in advance and oftentimes, since it is BEFORE their big catch, it is difficult for them to come up with the funds.

We do everything in OUR power to support our local fishermen. We don't buy ANY seafood from the grocery store unless it is local. It also is safer for us that way with all the risks involved with eating shellfish and fish from China and Thailand. It's a win-win situtation. We get the freshest and very best of seafood and it goes into the pockets of our neighbors.

I just stopped in to see what's going on here. I miss my old pals sooo much!!!

Then I see the bashing...

"I believe there are some people working on exposing the Sycamore crew for what they really are."

I sincerely hope I'm NOT included in this comment...I've never gotten involved in the political workings of EITHER forum. I'm a lowly Crime News Investigator over on 320 Sycamore. That's all. :(

There are good people there, and some who think they own the world.

Personally, I avoid most of the individual forums like the plague. Too much arguing for my tastes.

Like back when the whole Maddie thing got started, and I posted a lot of news, I also voiced my opinion on her thread here that the parents were guilty as sin. I was told-by the MODERATOR-NOT to comment on how I felt about her parents. The board was for good karma and prayers for Maddie. Not for comments about guilt or innocence.

So I simply STOPPED posting on those threads altogether.

If you don't want my comments, you don't want my updates, either...that's my way of thinking, anyway.

But on the other hand, when I went after Michael Vick with both barrels, NOBODY had a problem with that.

Or when I first started posting about the Benoit family deaths. A lot of people wanted to tar and feather me when i said there had to be more to it then Chris savagely murdering his family in a psychotic rage. And they wanted to hang me for the comments about his fans.

Although we'll NEVER know what REALLY happened that week-end, more of the truth is gradually coming out. And I wasn't so far wrong about Chris loving his family. And I wasn't wrong about the brain damage he'd sustained over the years, and the fact that the steroids combined with that damage probably made him snap-NOT HATE.

I love this place and the people here, and I love the work I do posting stories on Sycamore, even though some days I feel VERY unappreciated there, because most of the posters there are in their own little boards in their own little worlds, and seldom even bother to read what I post. I often go WEEKS without a single reply to a story or any feed-back.

Politics. That's all it is...and I avoid it.

Okay-now that I've diverged from my original comments, my point is that NOT ALL the people at 320 Sycamore are bad...and I hope you don't think I am.

Hugs-
Donna

Why don't you be Frau Rashwasser? and I'll be Madame J'eau?
LOL, Jay!
If I were a guy, I might consider "Herr Rasierwasser" (Mr. Shaving Water). ;)

I like "Madame J'eau". Très joli! :)

SamanthaJane,

I was just reading some of your posts last night and enjoyed them very much. :-)

I agree with you about Chris. There is definitely more to that story than we know.

As for 320, there are some very nice wonderful people over there. Unfortunately, it's the ones that think only certain people have a right to posts and voice their opinions, that ruin it for many and no, I do not include you in those people.

I've been a member over there for less than a year and I've only posted a few times because too many make it obvious that "newbies" and "lurkers" opinions don't matter. But that's ok, because I can still read the threads and comment on the subject elsewhere where I do feel welcome.

Hi Samantha,

No, I'm sure you are not included in any of that. I think it's mostly the admin that's getting looked at. Time will tell!

I know what you mean about feeling unappreciated at Sycamore.

I, too, would have loved discussing the Benoit case, but like you said, you have to be so careful what you say on certain cases at Sycamore.

I'm glad to see some of you coming back over here. This place seems great so far.

I'm glad she's aware of whats being said, but is she comprehending it? My experience tells me no. :(

I gave Riviera some grief when one of our posters' personal information was posted on the board in the form of an avatar and it sat for about 24 hours before being banned (despite having been reported numerous times). Riverwater's response to my complaint was that she "has a life". That is a lame excuse for shirking duties and for allowing a poster to be within in danger from any predator within reach of the CL message board.

Totally irresponsible.

OMG, you guys are rubbing off on me. Me and dh went to Crabby Joe's for supper tonight and they had a drink called Edge Water. Well of course I started thinking about this place right away and just had to try it. :D

It was very yummy!!! If you have a Crabby Joe's near you and like rum, try one. ;)

Do they serve "Crabby Patties"? Had to ask...love that Sponge Bob. :D

If you have a myspace account you can add "True Crime Blogs" to your friends and read the bulletin they posted yesterday exposing Sycamore for "some" of what is going on over there. Check it out! (It's well worth the read)

In fairness, Mods are volunteers and they often have jobs and families. The owner of the forum has responsibility though. I thought Riviera was pretty decent. I wonder if I'd recognise her regular hat?

Fairness has nothing to do with the shirking of duties. I am assuming that since Riviera made an excuse for why she was unable or unwilling to take action in a timely manner, that she was on duty.

Keep in mind, that FH2O has invited this person back to CL after multiple bannings of multiple usernames. But I reckon FWater doesn't have a problem with multiples, since it seems to be part of her own M.O.

I'm afraid I'm not following your logic here. I don't think it's reasonable to expect any unpaid volunteer to be on duty 24/7.

However there are two separate issues here and I share your disdain of multiple nics. I have wondered if FW had other hats because she rarely posted an opinion as Freshwater. I think if I owned and ran a discussion forum, I'd want to more than just administer it!
