Peterson is taking some personal time off from the Bolingbrook Police Department. On Tuesday he was at home, but he did not want to do an on-camera statement without his attorney's approval.
"He's cooperating fully with the investigation. The Illinois State Police Investigators, I know the chief has spoken to him several times. The department has offered any type of support that we can give him and his family," said Teppel.

At 4 a.m. Monday, her family went to the Illinois State Police to report that she was missing.

wbbm780.com - 30 October 2007
BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (WBBM/STNG) -- Illinois state police are searching for the 23-year-old wife of a veteran Bolingbrook police sergeant Tuesday who was last seen over the weekend -- meanwhile officials are taking a deeper look into the death of the sergeant's previous wife who was found in a bathtub.
Stacy Peterson was last seen Sunday morning in the southwest suburb, wearing a red jogging suit, police said. She is the fourth wife of Sgt. Drew Peterson, a 29-year veteran of the Bolingbrook Police Department.
Peterson is described as white, with brown hair and brown eyes, about 5-foot-2 and weighs about 100 pounds.
Bolingbrook police said that Drew Peterson has been cooperating with the investigation.

Disappearance of wife spurs interest in old case
chicagotribune.com - Erika Slife and Matthew Walberg | October 30, 2007
Authorities on Tuesday searched for a young Bolingbrook mother of two who left home Sunday morning to meet with a relative and help rehab a home. — continued: »
Excerpt: State's Atty. James Glasgow, who was not in office at the time of that case, said Tuesday he wants to review the Savio file.
"I was not the state's attorney when this case was processed, so for purposes of this investigation, this is being re-looked at," Glasgow said, adding that the jury's ruling at the 2004 inquest was not binding on his office.
He declined to discuss what, if any, connection there might be between the Savio case and the search for Peterson, saying only that "there are some unusual circumstances in the 2004 [Savio] case."

suburbanchicagonews.com - Jennifer Golz - October 31, 2007
The disappearance of the 23-year-old wife of a Bolingbrook police sergeant remains a mystery.

Man says wife leaving him
Cop says missing woman likely safe
chicagotribune.com - Erika Slife, Matthew Walberg and Hal Dardick - October 31, 2007
The veteran Bolingbrook police sergeant whose wife has been missing since Sunday told the Tribune he believes she left him for another man, but that she is safe.
Sitting at a desk in his house Wednesday afternoon, unshaven and with bags under his eyes, Drew Peterson, 53, said his wife, Stacy, 23, called him about 9 p.m. Sunday and told him she was leaving.
That was the last time her cell phone was used, police said.
"Sorry, I get choked up about it," Peterson said, his voice cracking. "I believe she's with someone else, but I believe she's safe."
As the couple's two children, ages 2 and 4, scampered around the house, he talked about celebrating the couple's fourth wedding anniversary Oct. 18. He bought her a diamond ring—a present he said she couldn't wait to have, so she made him give it to her at midnight. — continued: »

His side: Sgt. Drew Peterson
suntimes.com - DAN ROZEK AND STEFANO ESPOSITO - November 1, 2007
Drew Peterson believes his missing wife left voluntarily -- even taking extra clothes with her -- and isn't a victim of foul play, the Bolingbrook police sergeant said Wednesday, breaking his silence on the puzzling disappearance of Stacy Peterson.
"I believe she's not missing. She's where she wants to be," he said. "I have no reason to suspect foul play."
His 23-year-old wife has been seeing a psychiatrist, taking Effexor, a prescription anti-depressant medication and struggling with "mood issues" since the cancer death last year of her sister, Peterson said during a brief interview in the couple's Bolingbrook home.
"Ever since then, Stacy has been different," the 53-year-old Peterson said. "There's been mood issues. She's been under the care of a psychiatrist." — continued: »

Peterson's uncle, Gary Cales, 68, of Hemet, Calif., agreed: "I know damn well she wouldn't go without them kids. I just know that for sure. That's the kind of mother she is. She loved those children." — continued: »

suburbanchicagonews.com - JOE HOSEY The Herald News - November 1, 2007
BOLINGBROOK -- Stacy Peterson might come home again after blowing off some steam. Or she might not. Her mother hasn't yet, her son-in-law says, and she left eight years ago.
"I believe she's either going to tell people where she is or she's going to go down deeper, like how her mom did," said Peterson's husband, police Sgt. Drew Peterson.
Drew Peterson, 53, said this isn't the first time his 23-year-old wife split on him. She had taken off on him before, he said, when their children or he got to be too much. "She would take off for a few hours like this," Peterson said. "She would say she would vent."

Bolingbrook Cop Denies Involvement In Wife's Disappearance
BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (CBS 2/WBBM) - A Bolingbrook Police sergeant says he believes his missing wife left voluntarily on Sunday.
53-year old Drew Peterson tells the Chicago Tribune he believes his 23-year-old wife Stacy Peterson is safe and that she left him for another man. He tells the Sun Times she'd been taking anti-depressants. — continued: »
Excerpt: Drew and Stacy Peterson have been married for four years. She disappeared seemingly without a trace. Sgt. Peterson didn't want to go on camera but he did allow CBS 2 inside for a 10-minute conversation.
He described his last conversation with Stacy on Sunday night as being very unusual. He says she seemed "snotty."
He also said that her demeanor changed after one of her sisters died recently from cancer. He said she'd been under the care of a psychiatrist who had put her on the anti-anxiety drugs.
He also said he had no reason to suspect foul play in his wife's disappearance.
But Stacy Peterson's only surviving sister, Cassandra Cales, says Stacy lived in fear of the veteran police officer.

How do police find the missing?
suburbanchicagonews.com - BRIAN STANLEY - November 2, 2007
Police investigate all missing person reports, but the officer's initial assessment of the case often determines how they are handled.
"The patrol officer's judgement is very important, because he's the first one to talk to the complainant and get a feeling of the situation," said Will County sheriff's spokesman Pat Barry. continued: »

Peterson, ex-wife disputed over pension
suburbanchicagonews.com - Jennifer Golz - November 2, 2007
Now on leave from his sergeant's job, Drew Peterson was reportedly set to retire from the Bolingbrook Police Department in December.
A 29-year veteran of the department, Peterson would have a healthy pension from which to pull. Something his young wife, 23-year-old Stacy Peterson, also would be entitled, at least that which he earned since their 2003 marriage.
Peterson's pension also was something his third wife, Kathleen Savio, felt she was entitled. But Peterson did not, according to Will County Circuit Court documents. — continued: »

Cassandra Cales Says She Doesn't Believe Sister Stacy Peterson Left Her Husband
cbs2chicago.com - Mike Puccinelli - Nov 2, 2007

He was just jumping all over the place saying, 'Well last week, she was going to disappear just like your mom did, and I know that's a crock of ****. Excerpt: Police left Drew and Stacy Peterson's home Thursday night, the Chicago station reported. State police removed several bags of items from Peterson's home, Jiggetts reported, including a computer and guns.
For his part, Drew Peterson said authorities were just being thorough, and that he was fully cooperating with the investigation. Peterson added that he loved his wife, and had nothing to hide.
"Anytime someone searches your house, it's like a major violation of your rights," Peterson said at his home.
Peterson, who hid his face, said he was wearing a disguise to protect his identity.
"This is receiving national coverage," Peterson said. "I won't be able to go anywhere and show my face anywhere, without people pointing, or coming up to me, or giving some sort of abuse over this."
"They're going to take guns -- they're going to take computers to try to find out if anything was said on the computers about anything -- her whereabouts," Peterson said. "It's all part of the natural progression of things."

Cop’s 4th Wife Vanishes … What do you think happened?
Fox News - by Jamie Colby - November 2nd, 2007
Excerpt: Last night after State Police executed a search warrant at the home, Drew Peterson invited me into their home showing me room by room - from the bedrooms to the basement - what had been taken by investigators and was currently being reviewed for clues. I have to admit its the first time I’ve been in a house after a search by a dozen cops and search dogs. It was creepy but informative. While Drew Peterson continued to tell me his version of events, I couldn’t help but notice how extraordinary the environment was for the four children living there. “It’s all, said Drew, Stacy”. The murals, decorations, loving notes and pictures were everywhere. I don’t know what happened but to me this is a home Stacy was very involved in and it seemed sure she worked really hard to take care of her children. “She’s a good mother” Drew says.

Reporter's Notebook: Drew Peterson's Third Wife Exhumed, Media Reports Outside Cemetary
By Jeff Goldblatt
Drew Peterson finally got his wish. Privacy. Well, at least a taste of it. For a few moments today, the most closely scrutinized cul-de-sac in America in the last two weeks took on the look of any other upper middle class neighborhood, with its wide sidewalks and well manicured lawns. No satellite trucks. No roving packs of camera crews. No traffic.
So, where did everyone go? Somewhere else. It’s not as if anyone is about to let go of this story. No way. No chance. Instead, one of the many twists of this story took priority this morning. And so, instead of staking out the Peterson house, the media crammed into a parking lot about 30 minutes away from here in Hillside, Ill. That’s where the body of Kathleen Savio rested undisturbed for three-and-a-half years … until now. — continued

Expert calls Savio autopsy items ‘a bit suspicious’
chicagosuburbannews.com - Don Grigas - Nov 13, 2007
Bolingbrook, IL - An expert in autopsies performed on exhumed bodies says the condition of the remains of Kathleen Savio will ultimately determine if authorities can prove whether or not her death in March 2004 was an accidental drowning or a homicide....
Excerpt: “After three and a half years of being underground, you just don’t know what condition the body will be in. A lot will depend on how well the casket was sealed and the amount of moisture present in the casket after burial,” said Walsh, a Naperville resident who has been involved in more than 20 high profile autopsies and clinical studies of human remains, including that of William Sherrill of the Oklahoma post office slayings and Ludwig Von Beethoven.
Walsh also said if skin has been well preserved “there is a good chance the autopsy could reveal subcutaneous bruises beneath the skin.”
Bruises under the skin, not noted in the initial autopsy performed less than 16 hours after Savio’s body was discovered, could indicate Savio was being restrained or held under water, Walsh said.
Excerpt: After being read the contents of the initial Will County Coroner’s autopsy report dated March 20, 2004 — the autopsy was actually performed at 2:20 p.m. March 2, about 15 hours after Savio’s reported time of death — Walsh said two items appeared “to be a bit suspicious.”
In the initial autopsy performed by Bryan Mitchell, the doctor noted Savio’s tongue was “partially clenched between the teeth.”
“You need to be unconscious when you drown, and upon death the muscles in the face relax and the jaw relaxes. Typically you don’t die with your tongue clenched between your teeth. That might indicate there was a struggle at the end,” Walsh said.

Ill. officer says missing wife asked for divorce, but it was 'based on her menstrual cycle'
jg-tc.com - November 14, 2007
NEW YORK - An Illinois police officer who resigned after being named a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife said Wednesday she had asked him for a divorce _ but he thought it was due to hormones.
Drew Peterson told NBC's "Today" that his wife fell into a deep depression after her sister died of cancer, and had been taking medication. They often had fights after that, he said.
"I'm not trying to be funny, but Stacy would ask me for divorce after her sister died on a regular basis," Peterson said. "It was based on her menstrual cycle." — continued

Peterson Appears On "Today Show' -- Denies Guilt, Family reacts
wbbm780.com - 14 November 2007
Excerpt: Watching Drew Peterson on the Today Show, Cassandra Cales, Stacy Peterson's sister told Newsradio 780 --
"He was trying to act calm and collected, but as far as me and everybody else can tell, he was covering something up. If you look at him, he looks miserable. He looks horrible. You can tell he hasn't slept in forever. Bags under his eyes and everything."
Excerpt: Cassandra Cales says she watched as Drew Peterson made an appeal for his wife to come home. "Tell people where you are," he said.
Cales says she knows Peterson was prepared for that question.
"He knows where she is," Cales says. "There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it," she says.

Neighbor who found 3rd wife's body to appear before grand jury
chicagotribune.com - Matthew Walberg and Gerry Smith - November 14, 2007
A neighbor who discovered the body of Drew Peterson's ex-wife in her Bolingbrook bathtub in 2004 was testifying before a grand jury this afternoon, convened after authorities reopened the investigation into her death since the disappearance of Peterson's current wife.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m., Steve Carcerano, 39, the neighbor who discovered Kathleen Savio's body, walked into the Will County Court annex in Joliet, across the street from the courthouse. When asked if he was there to testify before the grand jury he replied: "Yes, sir. Yes, I am." Minutes later, the grand jury entered the building, accompanied by prosecutors.
On Tuesday, investigators also issued a grand jury subpoena to Peterson's brother, even as police continued their search for the officer's fourth wife, missing since late October. Authorities also exhumed the body of Savio, the third wife of suspended police Sgt. Drew Peterson, and a second autopsy started Tuesday in an emotional day for her family members. — continued

Is Drew in denial - or hiding something?
napervillesun - Jennifer Golz - November 15, 2007
Drew Peterson appeared on NBC's "Today" show to clarify misconceptions about himself he believes the media has created.
But Naperville-based psychologist Laura Faynor-Ciha says the interview left her with more questions than answers.
"He sounded disconnected from the situation in an overall sort of way, and what does that mean?" she said. "Is he separating himself from the pain and loss of family or from something he did wrong?
"The interview didn't clarify that for me." — continued
Excerpt: Peterson seemed to fumble when asked by the morning news anchor about his claims of Stacy having run off with another man.
"She never told me she was seeing another man," Peterson told Lauer, and then just as quickly changed his response to, "Well maybe she did. She 'found somebody else,' that was her exact words."

He says wife's hormones to blame for rocky marriage
napervillesun - Shamus Toomey and Dan Rozek - November 15, 2007
Drew Peterson, with an awkward smile, told his missing fourth wife to "come home, tell people where you are" during a live "Today" show interview Wednesday in which he blamed Stacy Peterson's "menstrual cycle" for her repeated requests to end their marriage.
"I'm not trying to be funny here, but Stacy would ask me for a divorce after her sister died on a regular basis," Peterson told NBC's Matt Lauer, who questioned him for nearly a half hour. "And it was based on her menstrual cycle."
That answer set off a spokeswoman for Stacy Peterson's family.
"He tries to explain that it was because of a menstrual cycle? That's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. It doesn't explain what happened to Stacy," Pam Bosco said. — continued

Savio finally gets authorities' attention
thetimesonline.com - DON BABWIN - AP - November 15, 2007
ROMEOVILLE | Three years after her lifeless body was found in a bathtub, authorities finally are paying attention to Kathleen Savio.
Nobody listened when she said she was afraid of her husband, a police officer in the Chicago suburb of Bolingbrook. After her death in 2004, a coroner's jury ruled Savio's death an accidental drowning even though one of her sisters told them that Savio had warned that if she died, it would look like an accident.
Now they suspect she was killed. But the theory didn't dawn on them until her ex-husband came under suspicion in the recent disappearance and possible murder of his new wife. — continued

Stacy's sweetheart speaks out
3-YEAR ROMANCE | 'She was so heartfelt with everything. She was really concerned'
suntimes.com - KARA SPAK - November 15, 2007
Stacy Peterson wasn't the type to date around.
With the exception of her husband, whom she met when she was 17 and married when she was the 19-year-old mother of his fifth child, she only had one serious boyfriend as a Romeoville High School student.
That boyfriend, Ralph Chira, talked about her Wednesday. He discussed his surprise when she started dating Drew Peterson, a man 30 years her senior, how Peterson proposed to Stacy two years before they married, and how Chira's experiences with Stacy don't jibe with Drew Peterson's statements on the "Today" show. — continued
Excerpt: In 2001, Chira and Stacy broke up after he said he started spending more time with his friends. Weeks later, she told him she met Drew Peterson.
"She told me he was older, a Bolingbrook police officer," Chira said. "She worked overnight [at a hotel], and I guess he would come in there and make her feel safe."

BOLINGBROOK SERGEANT TALKS ABOUT HIS WIFE'S DISAPPEARANCE IN INTERVIEW SHOWN ON TV
suburbanchicagonews.com - JOE HOSEY - November 15, 2007
Excerpt: Some hours after Drew Peterson was waxing nostalgically about the "very romantic" early days in his relationship with Savio and with Peterson, who was a 17-year-old motel clerk when she got engaged to the 47-year-old Sgt. Peterson, his brother was hauled before a grand jury in Joliet, according to friend and neighbor Steve Carcerano.
"He left like the invisible man," Carcerano said of Paul Peterson's stealthy departure from the grand jury proceedings.
Carcerano, who says he was the first to find Savio's body, said he "sat there for three and a half hours" while others testified. He said he was told to return to the grand jury Wednesday.
One of those people was Paul Peterson, he said.

Where's FBI? The Peterson case . . .
suntimes.com - MICHAEL SNEED - November 15, 2007
Why hasn't the FBI been asked to provide assistance in the disappearance of Stacy Peterson, which has become a nationwide story?
It's a question being asked by Sneed readers . . . and, for that matter, by Sneed.
The shocking answer: The FBI hasn't been asked.
• • Media mayhem: It's no secret the case has become a runaway media circus, starring TV tongue titans Geraldo Rivera, Greta Van Susteren and Nancy Grace tripping all over one another to retrieve any tasty tidbit tossed over the transom of the Illinois State Police, which is ramrodding the probe.
• • So Sneed called the FBI: "On its face, Stacy Peterson's disappearance does not appear to be a violation of federal law, which would fall under the jurisdiction of the FBI," said FBI spokesman Ross Rice. (In other words, it hasn't been classified a kidnapping yet.)
• • The kicker: "However, we have, in the past, on a number of occasions, been asked to provide assistance to local police departments involving local crimes. For example, the Lisa Stebic case comes to mind. We have been asked to help in that case," Rice told Sneed.
• • The surprise: "But as of right now, the Illinois State Police has not asked [the FBI] to provide any assistance in connection with the investigation," Rice added.
Drew who?
Sneed hears that Peterson's husband, suspended Bolingbrook cop Drew Peterson, not only appeared on the "Today" show Wednesday morning . . . but reportedly agreed to be interviewed afterward by "Dateline: NBC."
• • Quoth a source: "I'm told Peterson was pretty impressed with his fancy hotel digs in New York."

Cop Denies Involvement in Wife's Death
wjla.com - November 15, 2007
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — Nobody listened when Kathleen Savio said she was afraid of her husband. But now, three years after she was found dead in a bathtub in what was ruled an accidental drowning, authorities are paying close attention. They suspect she was killed. But that theory did not dawn on them until her husband came under suspicion in the recent disappearance and possible murder of his new wife. — continued
Excerpt: Among the documents Savio's family has kept for years is a copy of a letter they say she sent to an assistant state's attorney in Will County, claiming Peterson had beaten her several times, but police declined to file reports.
They also have a report from a suburban Chicago hospital that Savio visited in 2002 for treatment of a sprained wrist after what she said was a confrontation with Peterson. The report includes a notation by someone, possibly her doctor, that Savio said her husband was a Bolingbrook police officer and that the police would not take a report on the incident.

Peterson Defends Himself On National TV
Wife's Family Lashes Out At Former Cop, Analyst Calls His Appearance A Mistake
cbs2chicago.com - Nov 14, 2007
CHICAGO (CBS) ― The Peterson children's uncle brought groceries to the house, and as he left he blasted the reporters who've been in the neighborhood for weeks.
"Amend the laws, change the law and make it illegal for you guys... why you're nothing more than paparazzi leave this poor little family alone," Paul Peterson said Wednesday night. "I'm sure that the two moms would not like their kids tortured like this."
His outburst came on the same day former Bolingbrook Police Sgt. Drew Peterson declared his innocence on NBC's "Today" show. Peterson went on national television Wednesday to proclaim his innocence in the disappearance of his fourth wife and the death of his third wife. — continued
Excerpt: Peterson said that his wife fell into a deep depression after her sister died of cancer, and had been taking medication. They often had fights after that, he said. In one instance, he said, she hit him in the head with a frozen steak. But he said he never hit her. Stacy Peterson's loved ones said that's a lie.
"I've heard his kids say they have seen him hit her. And there were other family member witnesses there as well," Kerry Simmons, Stacy Peterson's stepsister, said.

Drew Peterson On 'Today:' 'Leave My Family Alone'
Stacy Peterson's Family Outraged At Peterson's TV Interview
nbc5.com - UPDATED: 6:04 am CST November 15, 2007
CHICAGO -- Friends and family of missing woman Stacy Peterson on Wednesday are more outraged than ever after watching her former policeman husband declare his innocence on a national stage with NBC's Matt Lauer on the "Today Show."
They said it's the first time Drew Peterson -- who resigned from the police force following the highly publicized case -- has been forthcoming about his wife's disappearance. But her friends and family said his appearance on national television was self-serving.
"I think his purpose this morning was to find himself a free lawyer. He also wanted to meet Matt Lauer," said Stacy's friend, Sharon Bychowski. "It's disgusting."
Stacy's friends also accused Peterson of changing his story about where he thought his wife was.
"She never told me she was with another man --or maybe she did. She found somebody else," Peterson told Lauer.
"Did she leave with a man or find someone? He changed his whole position on that last night. Be consistent," said Stacy Peterson's family spokesperson, Pamela Bosco, after the interview. — continued

Peterson Returns From New York As Others Come Forward
Stranger Says Stacy Peterson Told Him Of Physical Abuse
nbc5.com - November 15, 2007
CHICAGO -- The husband of missing woman Stacy Peterson told NBC 5 on Wednesday at O'Hare airport the media is still terrorizing his family.
Despite that, Drew Peterson offered little insight on his interview with Matt Lauer Thursday morning and didn't discuss another interview conducted in New York.
Excerpt: Peterson returned to Chicagoland as more people are coming forward sharing stories of meeting his missing wife, Stacy, saying they noticed at times she was fearful of her husband.
Social worker John Lamantia recalled meeting Stacy in April. He said she struck his car in a coffee shop parking lot, and was so concerned her husband would be upset, she urged him to let her fix the car without contacting an insurance company.
Lamantia said Stacy Peterson was distraught about her marriage and revealed her husband had physically threatened her that day.

Drew Peterson granted full police pension
abclocal.go.com - Sarah Schulte
November 15, 2007 - A police pension board met Thursday over whether Drew Peterson is entitled to his police pension. Peterson turned in his resignation as a Bolingbrook Police sergeant after he was named a suspect in the disappearance of his wife. Stacey Peterson has been missing for more than two weeks.
Because drew Peterson is over the age of 50 and has given over 20 years of service to the Bolingbrook Police Department, the board said, by law, they did have to vote to grant him his full pension. One board member said, because of the circumstances, she wasn't comfortable doing so, but the law is the law.
Drew Peterson is a 39-year veteran of the Bolingbrook Police Department. His years of service entitle him to a $6,000-a-month pension. It is money he is fighting to keep.
"The only thing that would operate to take away his pension, for Sergeant Peterson or any other police officer, is a felony conviction that is related to his employment. It has to be a job-related felony," said Richard Reimer, attorney for Bolingbrook Police pension board. — continued

Peterson's second wife tells her story
She recalls he threatened to kill her, make it look like an accident
chicagotribune.com - By Erika Slife - November 15, 2007
For the last two weeks, Vicki Connolly has watched in disbelief and with conflicting emotions as controversy swirls around her ex-husband, Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson.
She doesn't know whether he had anything to do with the disappearance of his current wife, Stacy Peterson, who has been missing since Oct. 28, or the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, who died mysteriously in 2004.
But in the first interview granted by one of his ex-wives since Stacy's disappearance, Connolly, 48, said Thursday that during their marriage an increasingly controlling Peterson told her he could kill her and make it look like an accident. While she couldn't believe he would ever do it, something prompted her to confide in Bolingbrook police officers who she considered friends. "So they would know he said these things to me," she said.
She said Peterson would hit her but not hard enough to go to the hospital, and not often enough for her to expect it. It made it worse, she said, that she never knew it was coming. "It was mind games; it was head games," she said. — continued X 2 pages
Excerpt: "The thing with Drew Peterson, and I'm sure if [Savio and Stacy Peterson] were here to comment they would say the same thing, when it was good, it was wonderful, it was great," Connolly said. "But when it was bad, it was really bad."
She met Peterson in a Bolingbrook bar in the early 1980s. She was there with her friends to see a favorite band.
"This man, just oozing of confidence, he wanted to dance with me and buy my girlfriends drinks," she recalled. "And he set his eyes on me and it was like he was going to get me. He couldn't get me to move in with him fast enough."
At the time, she was married, a relationship that was already ending. She said it was only three or four months after her divorce that she moved in with Peterson. He was so persistent, she said.

NANCY GRACE - CNN
Sergeant Peterson Blames Missing Wife for Media Circus
Aired November 15, 2007 - 20:00:00 ET
THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.
Excerpt: BETHANY MARSHALL, PSYCHOANALYST: I have so many thoughts. The way he's sitting back and his legs are planted in front of him, it's as if he's arrogant, he's indifferent. I thought about all the research about sociopathy, which is sociopaths have very low levels of anxiety and that's why their conscience doesn't form (ph) because they're not afraid of getting into trouble. So they tend to go in front of the camera, even if they've committed homicide, because they don't really think they've done anything wrong.
During the interview, he expresses no concern for his children, other than when Matt Lauer says, What will happen to the children if you go to jail? Then he gets a little emotional when it's all about him. For someone who has, like, a stalker-type mentality, who is literally on top of his wife all the time, he presents not one theory about who she went away with, not one cell phone record, not one story about who it might be.
And at the very end, when Matt Lauer says to him, Do you want to say anything to her, he kind of turns into the camera and laughs. And I don't know the exact quote, but something like, you know, Come home. But it's as if he doesn't really know she's there. I think that the overall picture is of indifference and as if she really doesn't -- he doesn't really think she's around.

Stacy Peterson's Prime Suspect Husband Talks To AMW
When 23-year-old mom of four Stacy Peterson vanished in late October, it prompted a broad investigation by the Illinois State Police that has included the exhumation of her husband's third wife's body. Her husband -- former cop Drew Peterson -- spoke publicly about Stacy's disappearance with AMW Correspondent Jon Leiberman. He defended himself, blaming his missing wife for causing a "circus".
When asked if Stacy was alive and well, Peterson replied "I hope she exposes herself to be alive and well." When pushed by Leiberman, "Is she alive and well?" Peterson responded, "I am hoping she is."
Prime Suspect Talks To AMW; Blames Missing Wife For "Circus"
Disgraced Bolingbrook Police officer Sgt. Drew Peterson opened the floodgates earlier this week when he went on both NBC's Today and Dateline NBC, and now the once camera-shy suspect has spoken with AMW Correspondent Jon Leiberman.
Leiberman says Peterson was calm, cool, collected, and even cordial. Leiberman started off by asking Peterson if he wanted his wife back. Peterson responded "Whether or not I want Stacy back now is questionable. It would take a lot of talking for me to take her back."
Leiberman told Peterson it sounded like he was angry with his wife. Peterson replied that he was. "I'm angry with Stacy," he said, "because I have this circus surrounding me and my family."
Leiberman confronted Peterson point-blank: "Did you have anything to do with the death of Kathleen or the disappearance of Stacy?" he asked.
Peterson said very clearly, "I had nothing to do with either."
Responding to similar questions from Matt Lauer, Peterson told him that it wasn't unusual for his wife to ask for a divorce and that it was "based on her menstrual cycle." Peterson insisted that he thinks Stacy has left him for another man and asked her to "come home."

Did Police Officers Protect Drew Peterson?
Third Wife Documented Abuse in Writing; Peterson Talks on 'America's Most Wanted'
abcnews.go.com - Nov. 16, 2007
Drew Peterson spoke out again Thursday night to "America's Most Wanted," saying he is angry at his missing fourth wife, Stacy, whose disappearance has generated a media frenzy and mounting suspicion that he is involved.
"I hope she exposes herself to be alive and well," Peterson said on the TV show. — continued
Excerpt: Did Police Officers Protect Drew Peterson?
Diane Wetendorf, who runs a nationwide program to help spouses of abusive police officers, says this frustration is not unique.
"Police officers rely on each other for their safety. There is a lot of solidarity there and there is a code of silence," Wetendorf said.
Friends of Stacy say she believed asking for police protection was not an option.
"She didn't think leaving him was even possible option for her," said her friend Sharon Bychowski. "She knew there would be consequences for her, for her family."

Sgt Peterson
by Greta Van Susteren
Sgt Peterson has spoken to me and many others off camera. He spoke to Matt Lauer on camera. I would very much like to talk to him on camera so that you could hear what he has to say when I talk to him. He knows or should know that I would be polite to him and allow him to answer fully questions I might pose to him. Ordinarily lawyers advise suspects not to talk - but once you start talking it can look odd if you start getting real selective. Of course he should not talk to anyone who will cut him off or yell at him - but he knows that is not the way I interview. I would simply ask blunt questions and follow up on his answers. I think it would be worth his time to do an interview with me because I know the facts and it might - only might - slow down the media pursuit of him and focus more on finding his wife. I have no agenda other than yes, I am suspicious of him (he is a police officer and thus understands why) - but I also know that things may not be as they seem (think runaway bride.)Should he talk to me on camera??? Post your answer

Drew Peterson - A Case Study in Bad PR
americanchronicle.com - Deanne Schulz - November 16, 2007
Is Drew Peterson really a sociopath or did he just play one on TV? The ex-police sergeant from Illinois who is now officially a suspect in his wife Stacy’s disappearance, ramped up the PR machine this morning by granting an interview to Matt Lauer on the Today Show “to combat all the media attention” surrounding him. If that comment alone doesn’t leave you scratching your head in confusion, things got worse as Peterson appeared to launch a smear campaign directed at his missing fourth wife and deceased third wife. You could almost hear a collective “shut your dang mouth” from defense attorneys, media experts and housefraus across the United States, as Peterson did his best to gain the public’s affection and attention.
For those of you who missed it, here are the Top 3 things you can do to come off as a narcissistic sociopath on national TV while attempting to avoid a murder wrap: — continued

Update From Bolingbrook….
by Greta Van Susteren
We are on the ground in Bolingbrook…from the airport, we first did a site check for our show tonight (we are obviously spending the night here.) The site we have chosen is great — plus, as luck would have it, it is inside so that we will be able to feel our hands and feet. Care to guess where we are doing it????
In a minute we are headed to see a number of people who may provide us some information to advance this story. We have tried to call Dr. Baden but no luck so far — we assume that he is still doing the autopsy for Kathleen Savio.
I know that many people in Bolingbrook are now reading Gretawire and I urge them to contact us if they have any tips…..
I will keep you posted as we learn more…

What We Can Learn From Autopsy of Kathleen Savio
This is a rush transcript from "On the Record ," November 15, 2007. This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated.
GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, HOST: Sergeant Peterson's wife number three has been exhumed. The investigation is under way right now to find out how she died, accident or homicide. Wife number three died in 2004 in a bathtub, and at the time, a coroner's jury declared it an accidental death. But now there is a new prosecutor, James Glasgow, and he's investigating whether her death was really a homicide. They are inspecting her exhumed body. What will we learn about how Kathleen Savio, wife number three, died, and when?
Dr. Baden is going to tell us because he will be doing an autopsy tomorrow in Illinois. He joins us live in New York. Dr. Baden, if... — continued
