US man charged with raping daughters, accused of using shock collar to enforce obedience

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- A rural Tennessee father is accused of raping his two teenage daughters and using electric dog collars to establish dominance over them, authorities said Tuesday.

The charges against the 37-year-old man and his 35-year-old wife were referred to a grand jury on Tuesday in Tazewell, which is in rural Claiborne County near the Kentucky border....

FROM THE STORY: "The wife's attorney, Buddy Baird, said his client will be vindicated when the facts come out. He refused to elaborate."

Hhhmm, let's see....what will her "vindication" be? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that she'll be claiming he used the same tactics on her. My problem with THAT is that the step-mom is an ADULT. She should have protected those girls, one way or another, even if they weren't her own children. Thank God the 18-yr old saw that it was going to happen to her little sister and decided to become an ADULT (like her stepmom SHOULD have been).

This is absolutely sickening.

I happen to have the underground fence wire system for my 3 little dogs (just installed it 6 wks ago). Those collars give quite a jolt, especially at the higher levels. In fact, because my dogs are under 6 lbs each (2 chihuahuas and a Yorkie), I had to go buy extra-small collars which didn't give as strong a current (the idea is to train them,;) , not to hurt them!). The collar that came with the system was just too strong, plus it was ridiculously big on their little necks.

Even the smaller collars, at the lowest level, gave me a jolt enough to make me throw the collar to the ground  and involuntarily "yelp" (yes, I just had to try them out on myself first, wanting to know what my darlin's were in for!).

The idea that someone would use these collars on their children is incomprehensible to me! I hope they lock this psycho up and throw away the key....and give him a shocking dog collar- let his fellow inmates control the jolts he gets!

I also used a training collar on my dog who was a coyote Norwegian Elkhound mix - He was a big dog but I got the collar for the smaller dog because of the lower jolt. Those things have to be handled wuth the utmost care (remotes being out of reach of children etc.) But I always thought that in the wrong hands... I hated having the knowledge that somewhere some day this would happen.

Angie1960....my system doesn't actually have a remote. It's the one where you bury a wire in your yard, making a perimeter that your dogs cannot go over without receiving a "correction". Mine get an audible beep (warning) when they approach the perimeter ...and a "static correction", i.e., a shock, if they keep approaching.

So, obviously this guy was using something more like yours, with a remote. I didn't know they made them with a remote, so that clears up for me how he was utilizing it...not to keep them in a certain area, but to shock them at his own will. What a sicko....

This is absolutely sickening. I agree with you the step mom will try and get out of it by saying she was abused. If I saw a child being abused with a dog collar... I would take those children and run. You are supposed to protect children. I have been abused by my husband years ago.. and it is scary, but I would not have allowed him to hit my children ever. I would take the abuse before I would allow a child to be abused. This women should go to jail because she did not help those girls. The sister did not want it to happen to her sister and she stood up and told... That takes alot of guts and I am very proud of her,she did not want her sister to go through what she did, why couldnt the stepmom step up along time ago and put a stop to it?

She's weak, there's no way around it. This is a sad story because these children will be scarred forever, and nothing will change that. Their father not on took part of their sanity but also the ability for them to trust anyone fully ever again. This is a truly sad story.

I can see why forum members can 'Burn Out'. Infathomable really disgusting actions of some people. Maybe the Justice will really start being handed out when 'Daddy' meets Tyrone in the 'Big House'.
