Cop accused of underage sex
philly.com - Associated Press - Oct. 26, 2007
HARRISBURG - A small-town police officer was charged yesterday with having indecent contact with underage girls and pressuring girls to have sex with him in exchange for lenient treatment for themselves or relatives.
Robert Pavlovich Jr., 39, of Camp Hill, faces charges that include sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, bribery and 14 counts of corruption of minors. He has been suspended with pay from the Marysville Police Department since March, according to the mayor. The allegations date back to 2001, the year after Pavlovich was hired.
Police said that one of his victims is mildly mentally retarded and that Pavlovich had contact with girls through the MySpace. com social-networking site using a police department computer.
He allegedly told one girl that if she told anyone about what he had done, his wife would divorce him and he would never be allowed to see his daughter.
A grand jury found that Pavlovich asked 14 underage girls to leave their homes secretly and to meet with him, solicitations it said were overtly or implicitly sexual or involved illegal behavior such as underage drinking.
The grand-jury presentment accuses Pavlovich of touching girls sexually, including one child who Pavlovich knew had psychological problems and who previously was molested by a neighbor.
"I read some of [the presentment], and I'm just sick to my stomach," Marysville Mayor Deb Troutman said yesterday. She said that legal issues prohibited the firing of Pavlovich outright but that the borough plans an emergency meeting at which she intends to push to make his suspension unpaid. — continued: »

Girls: Cop molested us
Acquitted in similar case in Manheim Township, police officer now faces multiple teen-sex charges in Perry County.
lancasteronline.com - By JANET KELLEY - Oct 25, 2007
LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. - The off-duty policeman went to the home of a mildly mentally retarded woman two days after she was involved in a car crash and convinced her to have sex with him, prosecutors said.
He spent time on a police department computer "chatting" by Internet with numerous young teenage girls, asking them to sneak out of their homes late at night and meet him, according to court documents.
He invited them to sit with him in his car where they said he'd kiss them, fondle their breasts, and ask them to have sex, the girls told investigators.
And for certain girls, investigators said, he would offer to not file criminal charges against them, their friends or family in return for special favors.
This morning, Robert J. Pavlovich Jr., 39, a former Manheim Township policeman now living in Camp Hill, was arrested by state police and charged with misusing his position as a police officer to have illegal sexual contact with teenage girls. — continued: »

Ex- police officer charged in cases of underage sex, Perry County/Camp Hill
Camp Hill resident had been member of Marysville police department.
cumberlink.com - Heather Stauffer, Sentinel Reporter - October 26, 2007
Authorities say a former Marysville police officer used his position of authority to prey on young girls, forcing several to have sex with him in exchange for favors.
In one case, state Attorney General Tom Corbett says, Robert J. Pavlovich Jr., 39, of the 3000 block of Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, solicited oral sex from a 19-year-old woman with a mild mental disability.
“Police officers are a living symbol of law and order — with a sworn duty to protect and serve our citizens, including our children,” Corbett said. “No child should ever be victimized in this manner, and there is no room in any community for a sexual predator disguised as a police officer.”
According to court documents, Pavlovich is married and has a young child. Corbett noted that Pavlovich was suspended without pay from his position with the Marysville Police Department on March 5. According to court documents, Pavlovich has tried to commit suicide twice since then — first at his home on May 7 and then at a beach in Maryland on May 11.
Pavlovich was sent to Perry County Prison on $500,000 bail. He was ordered to surrender his badge and have no contact with the victims. — continued: »

attorneygeneral.gov - October 25, 2007
HARRISBURG - Pennsylvania State Police today filed criminal charges against a Marysville Borough, Perry County, police officer accused of misusing his position of authority by having illegal sexual contact with teenage girls, or soliciting sex from teens in exchange for not filing criminal charges.
Attorney General Corbett identified the defendant as Robert J. Pavlovich, Jr., 39, 3920 Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill.
Corbett said the case was referred to the Attorney General's Public Corruption Unit by the Perry County District Attorney's office. Evidence and testimony was presented before a statewide investigating grand jury, which recommended the criminal charges that were filed today against Pavlovich.
According to the grand jury, while serving as a police officer for Marysville Borough, Pavlovich approached 14 different young girls with solicitations that were either overtly or implicitly sexual, or proposed that the girls engage in other illegal conduct - including the underage consumption of alcohol. — continued: »
