View Full Version : "How things are run?"

I, for one, think they are 'run' very well indeed. It's refreshing and interesting to have a Moderator who is there to GUIDE, rather than punish. I was banned once from another board, with no explanation, no recourse, because I made an ill-cosidered comment. I would like to know how many of us "veterans" (LOL!) haven't done that, at some stage?

I've learned a lot from communicating and debating with posters in these forums.

I think Freshwater is the fairest and most inclusive Moderator I've known. That is my style of management too, so I guess that's why I relate so well.

She listenes first and judges later, with the benefit of hindsight, poster history and how other posters in this community view that poster.

IMO, she has covered all grounds, and one can't be fairer than that.

To anyone who thinks I'm trying to score points with Freshwater - don't bother! I don't need it, and she doesn't either.

This is just a simple vote of thanks.

 Well I absolutely disagree. Within the space of 40 minutes one day, FW issued 5 infractions to me about stuff that almost every other poster posts themselves!!! One of the infractions was because I laughed. I guess laughing is not allowed here?? Another infraction was because I posted my opinion. Isn't that what most posters here do??

RC,

I think we have had this conversation already.... your specific infractions occured on a forum under Martial Law and they have nothing to do with laughing or expressing an opinion as I have already explained in detail to you via pm.

FW, that is not true. I am going to forward to you the pm's you sent to me in which DID levy infractions for the above noted reasons and hopefully we can clear the air that way. TYIA

First off I want to thank Freshwater for being a great forum leader and how glad I am to be on these boards. You can post your feelings and whether or not people agree with them is half the fun of posting as not everyone is going to agree on say the Death Penalty. But at least here you can be pro and not have a bunch of tree huggers calling you a blood thirsty vigilante because you want the Couey's and the Duncan's of the world to die and painfully for raping and murdering innocent children. And I am very pleased ped lovers are not welcome here. On the other board I was on, you could be banned for pissing off what I called the clique. They could post whatever they wanted and if you did not agree, you could be banned. Some subjects people don't want to hear the truth. I without wanting to offend anyone, made a comment about how incest seems to be more common in the south as there were cases profiled about incest and just about all of them occurred in the south. Oh, boy, did I open a can of worms. I said of course it happens above the Mason Dixon line, but the cases I was referring to was Couey, having sex with his own nieces and I believe for sure with his low-life fugly sister. I also pointed out that the scumbags who murdered Christopher Barrios, the father had been charged with incest with his daughter. That was all I said. I had hate mail over that one. I said well, these cases did occur in the south! I was pleased to read the responses I got on my take on Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton. If I had posted my true feelings on that board, the NAACP would have been banging on my door. We had way too many ped sympathizers, way too many anti death penalty freaks, almost acting like terrorists. So I am very glad to find sane, open minded, and like-minded adults here and hope to be on here for a long time. I do speak my mind, I am brutally honest, and I don't back down. If I am wrong, I say I am wrong. One thing in particular will get you on my bad side. Being a ped lover and show any sympathy for these maggots, I don't feed the trolls as I call it and happily, I guess I don't have to worry here. So thanks to all of you for being you.

JMOWell said, Lili007! I completely agree. And, for The Real Canuck, you should know I've been banned from here. It was because of that problem that I learned just how fair and open minded Freshwater is. I have nothing but respect for her and I really like the way she doesn't just make a major change without researching various options and getting members opinions. I think that say a lot about who she is.
If you want unfair and a mod who won't listen, I can suggest a board for you. I guarantee you won't like it.

Freshwater, you really are the best and I'm proud to be a member of this community. Thank you.

The way I look at it is this is a community of many many people and there has to be rules just like a town has laws. If we did not have these there would be total chaos.
I have not been here that long , but have never received not one infraction. I also so float around to different threads and I see the majority of posters are great. There are a few that are not, so that tells me that what FW is doing is working because CL has become a GREAT place.
I do not believe FW would single out certain posters to give out infractions to. I think when a poster is reported she does not just give the infraction. I think more than one person has to report that post and then FW would have to investigate the post and the posters that reported it before she would give the infraction. If the posters that reported it had good standings in the community and determine that the posters are not reporting it out of spite ,because they did not like that poster.
FW GREAT JOB
YOUR THE GREATEST and again

I am proud to be part of this community due to the fact that this board is THE BEST SLEUTHS BOARD ON THE NET and the most civil.

I can honestly say without reservation it is due to FW's moderation and the many great posters this board.

I also have to say she is one of the most intelligent people I have come across on the boards and the threads she has participated in/made comments on are spot on!

I don't understand why when sometimes I try to log in and it says I'm banned. No reason given and says the ban will never be lifted. Other times, I can get in.

It's very annoying. Anyone know why this happens?

Maybe you were banned from a specific thread but not the entire board?

I think there are still some bugs in the software.

I totally agree with Athena's take on how this board is managed! Seeing both sides and being partial! A gift!

Lily, I couldn't agree more with your observations. I love this forum specifically because of Freshwater. I was a long time poster on "that other board", was suddenly banned and, to this day, I have no idea why. On this board, banning is not necessarily permanent and we have an open-minded moderator who doesn't think she was just appointed dictator.

Don't we all lose our cool occasionally? It's when this happens that we need a cooling off period -- not a permanent banning.

Thanks, Freshwater. IMO, you know the true meaning of "moderator".

Hi Everyone,

I just have one more thing to say and this will tell everyone one how compassionate FW truly is. We had a new member join CL and she was feeling left out and was was going to come back to CL.
FW has to do so much here on the boards and she took the time to PM a few of us about this poster and we went and WELCOMED her with open arms .
Thanks to FW we did not lose the poster who has turned out to be a compassionate and dedicated poster.

I, too, would like to thank Freshwater for all that they do. I am very new here and had an issue while trying to log in not long after I registered. I emailed Freshwater and, in only a couple of days, the problem was figured out and fixed. I appreciate the time it took to do that very much.:)
