Interpol Says Suspected Pedophile Identified, Sought in Thailand

PARIS — A suspected pedophile sought in an unprecedented worldwide Interpol manhunt has been identified and is believed to be in Thailand, the international police organization said Monday.

The man, his face digitally disguised, was allegedly shown sexually abusing young boys in Vietnam and Cambodia in images posted on the Internet.

Police succeeded in recreating an image of his face from the photos and, thanks to tips supplied by people who responded to Interpol's appeal for help, identified him as an English teacher who worked at a school in South Korea.

"Thailand is at the centre of an international manhunt, and authorities in the country, in co-operation with Interpol and police around the world, are hunting him down," Interpol's secretary general, Ronald K. Noble, said in a statement.

Interpol said it now knows the suspect's name, nationality, date of birth and passport number, although it did not release that information in its statement.

It said the the man flew from Seoul to Bangkok last Thursday, with security cameras documenting his arrival at Thai immigration. Interpol again appealed for public help to track him down.

It said more than 350 people worldwide contacted Interpol in response to its appeal for help last week.

At that time it alleged that photos showed the man abusing 12 boys, apparently ranging in age from 6 to their early teens.

The man's face was disguised in those photos as a digitalized whirl. But German police managed to unscramble the photos. Interpol released four reconstructed photos of the suspect in hopes that someone would recognize him.

And I thought the prime minster was an ass, trying to tell Chris Hansen that it is a priority to shut down these brothels and when the watch dog group grabbed a bunch of the kids to rescue them from this horrific life, Chris Hansen went back to where the brothel was and lo and behold it was up and running again with more little girls. Can't be much of a priority if a month later after being on American TV and assuring Chris that all the brothels would be shut down and the pimps arrested, he goes back to find several of them still selling little girls and now she whines that it can't happen "over night". The hell it can't! So if this puke is on Thailand, it won't be hard to find him. Go to a brothel and he will probably be there. And he is reported to be an English teacher in Korea?? Very well written and i will add what is also just as bad is that foreigners go to these countries for this very reasons and something should be done to stop these perverts going abroad to countries such as thailand etc..
phillipines is as bad, i once saw a terrible documentary of a priest who has dedicated his life to taking children off the steeets and helping them to survive by teaching them how to earn a living and learning some skills in order to avoid prostitution and he has been threatened by the local gangs..
when i saw the children diseased with AIDs and some where mentally in a mess trying to battle their depressions as well as there was a scene where the children were told to go in a group and lie on a mattress and scream and punch and get their anger out, i burst into tears at the impotence of seeing these children anguish i cannot explain here in words the full horror of what some of these children spoke and told the reporter.
The priest who is doing this has even told the reporters that he is never going to give up helping these children.

And get this. While Dateline was filming the show, an American doctor from OK City was there trolling for little girls and he still makes me puke when he tells the undercover guy that he doesn't go for real young ones, but he likes them to be about 12! What the hell is the difference? He proceeds to tell them that he comes over about twice a month and he could get them hooked up with whatever they wanted. And during the filming I saw a lot of other men that looked to be Americans too. When he was outed, he tried to say he really don't have sex with any of them, just oral sex. Both of her parents had died from AIDS, she was cast into the streets so to speak. Was taken in by a man who told her he would find work for her and her little sister. They were 6 and 8. Instead he turned them both into prostitutes and when they tried to run away, he beat both of them for days, tied to post naked, no water or food. When he thought he had broken them, he sold both of them to a so-called preacher man who abused both of them on a daily basis. The younger girl ended up with AIDS first and died. The other girl was rescued and is now living in Germany with a wonderful family. She is HIV positive, but despite what she went through, she is doing good. And apparently in Africa, human trafficking of children is acceptable behavior due to the poverty, same as Cambodia. Now if this does not tear you up. I cried throughout the whole show. There were other girls profiled that had escaped and it was sheer horror to think your own parents would **** you out. These are the stories no one wants to know about. BANGKOK, Thailand — A Canadian schoolteacher accused of sexually abusing over a dozen boys was arrested Friday in rural Thailand after an unprecedented public appeal from Interpol had turned him into the world's most wanted suspected pedophile.

The suspect, 32-year-old Christopher Paul Neil, had been hiding in the town of a Thai friend who arranged some of his alleged sexual liaisons with boys, police said.

Neil was driven from the province of Nakhon Ratchasima to the national police headquarters in Bangkok, about 210 kilometers (130 miles) away.

Handcuffed, with a blue shirt draped over his head, Neil made no comment to reporters as officers led him into the headquarters, where a news conference was scheduled later in the day.

He declined to give details of the arrest, saying a news conference would be held in Bangkok later in the day.

Shortly before the arrest, Wimol said police had rushed to the northeastern province Thursday night after receiving credible information that Neil had fled there. Residents said they had spotted the Canadian near the home of the Thai friend, Wimol said.

Neil lived in Thailand from 2002 to early 2004, police said.

Thai authorities issued an arrest warrant Thursday for Neil after determining that he may have sexually abused boys in Thailand, in addition to a dozen Cambodian and Vietnamese boys, some as young as 6, whom Interpol suspects he abused.

He was to be extradited to Canada after being prosecuted in Thailand, said police spokesman Pongsapat Pongjaren.

The Thai arrest warrant was based on the testimony of one boy, who said he was lured to Neil's apartment in Bangkok by a Thai man, Wimol said Thursday.

The boy was one of three Thai youths, aged 9, 13 and 14 at the time, who contacted police Wednesday after seeing Neil's photograph on television. They claimed he had paid them to perform oral sex on him in 2003, Wimol said earlier, adding that the Canadian allegedly also had sex with at least one other underaged male.

The boys said the suspect showed them pornographic images on his computer at his apartment in Bangkok, and paid them each 500 baht to 1,000 baht (US$16 to US$32; euro11 to euro22), Wimol said.

Neil has taught at various schools in Thailand, South Korea and Vietnam since at least 2000.

He suddenly left his most recent teaching job in South Korea last week on a one-way ticket for Thailand as investigators closed in on his identity. Cameras at the immigration counter captured his image as he arrived at Bangkok's international airport.

The hunt for Neil began three years ago when German police discovered about 200 online photographs of a man sexually abusing children. His face was digitally obscured, but German police were able to reconstruct a recognizable image and Interpol circulated those images last week.

The suspect was identified with the help of hundreds of tips from people who responded to an unprecedented appeal by Interpol for public assistance.

More clues about the suspect's background emerged with the discovery of a Web page on the social networking site MySpace that Interpol officials believe was kept by Neil.

"Been kicking around Asia for the past five years, teaching mainly and finding other forms of mischief," reads the profile, which describes him as "5 feet, 11 inches tall, slim and slender."

"I love teaching, can't get enough of it really," the entry says, going on to describe his passion for drama, musicals and karaoke.

Before teaching in Asia, Neil had worked as a chaplain in Canada, counseling teens.

Canadian authorities have said they would seek his extradition. Canada has sex tourism laws allowing prosecution for crimes committed abroad.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. These guys need a needle in the arm 20 minutes after a conviction. We shouldn't waste our money on appeals for these perverts. Besides, we would be doing the world a great service and maybe that would keep any future perverts from following in there foot steps!!!:no:
