Miami police hunting "terrible predator"
miamiherald.com - BY DAVID OVALLE - Posted on Mon, Oct. 08, 2007
A gun-wielding man kidnapped a couple in downtown Miami Monday morning, raping the woman for 45 minutes before making the pair drive the streets looking for someone else to rob, police said.
When the attacker spotted a potential victim walking the streets, he got out of their car and the couple sped off.
''We're looking for a terrible predator,'' said Miami Detective William Moreno, a spokesman.
The attacker is described as a clean-shaven, slim black man in his 20s, about six-foot-two with bald or close-cropped hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a white tank top and red-white-and-black sneakers.
Moreno gave this account of the incident:
Just after 1 a.m., the couple was parking at a meter on Biscayne Boulevard near Northeast Fourth Street when the man confronted them. Pointing a chrome or silver handgun, he forced them back into the car.
For the next 45 minutes, the attacker raped the woman inside the car while holding the man at bay with the weapon.
''At one point, he hit the male with it,'' Moreno said. "He made it very clear he had a gun and had no problem using it.''
Then, he made them drive around while searching for another victim.
The attacker spotted a chain-wearing victim walking on Biscayne Boulevard near Northeast Second Street. Ordering them to stop, the attacker jumped out of the car -- and the couple escaped, speeding off to call police.
The third victim also called police, Moreno said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami's special victims unit at 305-579-6630 or Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-8477.

Miami man charged in assault, rape of tourist
By Mike Clary | Sun-Sentinel.com - October 16, 2007
MIAMI - A 19-year-old Miami man with a long police record and the nickname "Bam-bam" has been arrested in connection with the vicious Oct. 8 sexual assault on a tourist couple in town for a Caribbean carnival.
Wayne Proctor, picked up Friday, has been charged with armed sexual battery, armed kidnapping and robbery with a firearm, according to Miami Police Chief John Timoney.
"This is a really, really bad person on a crime spree," said Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, who appeared at a news conference Tuesday alongside Timoney and several detectives who worked the case. "This is a person who needs to be locked away for good and never be allowed on the streets of Miami again."
The couple, who live in the Caribbean, were getting into the car on Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami about 1:15 a.m. Oct. 8 when a man approached, robbed them of $60 and forced them to drive around town while he looked for other victims. He raped the woman in the back seat while the man drove, police said.
The assailant later robbed three other people at gunpoint, said police. .....

Teen accused of rape, robbery and kidnapping
miamiherald.com - BY DAVID OVALLE - Tue, Oct. 16, 2007
A tattooed 19-year-old named Wayne A. Proctor -- he wears the word ''murder'' inked on his arm -- was behind bars Tuesday. Police say he first embarked on a night of crime last week that included:
• Briefly kidnapping a woman in her car in Miami Gardens, then bashing her in the head with a handgun before making off with her purse and money.
• Kidnapping a tourist couple from St. Kitts hours later as they parked their rental minivan in downtown Miami, robbing them of $60, raping the woman inside the van, smacking the boyfriend with his silver handgun and forcing them to drive in search of new victims.
• Robbing the new victims -- three New York tourists -- in downtown at gunpoint, stealing their cellphones and jewelry.
Proctor was charged Tuesday with the downtown Miami rape and robberies, capping an exhaustive investigation into a crime that rattled civil leaders and downtown businesses. He also faces charges of kidnapping and robbery in the Miami Gardens incident.
A suspect sketch by Miami-Dade forensic artist Jorge Molina helped break the case, police said. It showed a cleanshaven, slim bald black man in his 20s with distinctive jutting ears.
''The likeness is striking,'' Miami Chief John Timoney said at a Tuesday morning press conference.
Proctor was caught when a tipster recognized the man, who also sported a large spider-web tattoo on his shoulder. She will receive $13,500 in reward money. .....
