LOS ANGELES - Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early Tuesday on misdemeanor drunken driving charges after failing a field sobriety test, police officials said.
The actor was pulled over at about 1:10 a.m. in West Los Angeles after officers spotted him making an illegal U-turn, said Officer Kevin Maiberger.
Sutherland, 40, tested over the state's legal blood alcohol limit of .08 percent, and was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence, Officer Karen Smith said.
He was released around 4 a.m. after posting $25,000 bail, according to Sheriff's Department records.
Maiberger said Sutherland was scheduled to appear in court Oct. 16.
Sutherland won a best actor Emmy Award last year for his role as agent Jack Bauer on the Fox TV series "24." The series is set to return to the air in January.

Kiefer, DUDE!!! You're 40 years old, and not some snot-nosed kid anymore!!! You have to STOP this before youor someone else is hurt-OR KILLED!!!!
Stick to wrestling Christmas trees in hotel lobbies...PLEASE!!!!
My heart would break if my FAVORITE ACTOR were hurt or killed, or if 24 were postponed or cancelled.
I'm planning to celebrate my birthday BIG this year, since it coincides with the season premiere!!!
Please...behave yourself and BE SAFE!!!

Shame on you Sutherland. Do you think your grandfather Tommy Douglas would be proud of you? I think not!

Ok so I guess he can't aford a driver. . its a shame that time and time again we are hearing about TV & Movie stars drinking & doing drugs. and 9 times out of 10 only getting a fine. myself I think that for everytime they do either they should have to go and work in a morgue for a few months and see what could either happen to them or someone they could kill by doing the crap they do..:flamemad: if they have that much money they can aford to either stick it up their nose or down their throut, then maybe they should give that money to charitys.

That would be nice if they'd give their money to charity instead. If given community service I think they should be involved with the program "Every 15 Minutes".
"Dear Mom and Dad,
Every 15 minutes someone dies as the result of an alcohol related collision.
Today I died and I never got the chance to tell you.....

Learning About Life and Death: Dramatic Program Educates Teens about Drunk Driving
The scene is devastating. A wrecked car, bloodied bodies, empty beer cans, the sounds of sirens and the cries for help. It’s a scene played out in cities across America, as teenagers mix alcohol with driving as they celebrate spring break, prom and graduation.
While students are aware of the dangers of drinking and driving, the reality of the devastation to the individual, families and society is not clear until they experience it firsthand, far too late.

Its funny they are now sending husbands and sometimes wifes to vist Morgues to see what can happen when they abuse their partners. they even get them to lay in the coffins. and as far as I know 9 times out of ten they come away with so much shame and upset as to what they can lose, most of them never do it again. its a shame that this isn't what each and ever person ( not just tv & movie stars ) are made to do. ::) . myself am a bit sad to also see this new reality show. Celebs in Rehab--- I'm sure they are in a way getting the help they need. and I'm happy for them. but most of them are also useing this as a way to get publicity to help them get back into lime light.
