Katey is so excited, I don't think it's really hit her.
She laid across my bed, cranked up her heavy-metal music and crashed out for the night.
I'm sure she'll be glad to help on with any questions from the board. Even though she isn't a member, she reads the board on a daily basis, and as long as it doesn't have anything to do with a case she's working on, I'm sure she'd be glad to help out with info.
She spends a lot of time on the regular CL site, reading, earning and trying to solve the cases there. It's a such great place to hone your detective skills.
She's a very ethical person, so I know she'll be a credit to her profession, and never compromise any cases by discussing them with others.
I'm STILL sending out emails and bulletins to share our good news!!!
Thanks to all for the congratulations!!!

Katey turns 19 in January.
She was held back in 6th grade because her teacher REFUSED to believe 4 different doctors and testers documents which diagnosed her with a learning disability-Central Auditory Processing Disorder. It's sort of like dyslexia. She's learned to over-come a lot of it, and "work around" it.
When the teacher failed her in EVERY CLASS, FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR, she said the family was just making excuses for her laziness, and found doctors who would give a fancy name to it. She was diagnosed before she even hit kindergarten, but this idiot teacher thought she had a line on Katey. After I went to the Diocese to complain, she never taught again.
I just told Katey that it gave her one more year to decide what she wanted to study in college.
I also told her that it wasn't HER fault that the teacher wouldn't believe a over 300 pages of medical documents and IEP's.
To this day, I don't think the idiot ever opened the file to read it, even though the school system was giving Katey special ed. services for 7 years by the time she was failed.

I am sure your daughter will love it. I am also in college for the same. My only problem is I get so caught up in the research and studying the cases that I forget that I have an assignment to do. :hat:

Actually, Katey isn't going AWAY to college.
The school is about 30 minutes away, and she'll be living here at home. It's a small private Franciscan Order school, and it only has about 1,200 students. The student\faculty ratio is about 15 to 1.
It's in a very well-to-do suburb, almost rural. The grounds are beautiful-almost park-like.
The Forensics\Criminal Justice faculty is comprised of teachers who have all had experience in CJ or Forensics, so they aren't just teaching theories out of books-they've all had LE careers in one capacity or another, and they're all full-time teachers. They have been State Troopers, County Sheriffs, Probation Officers, area police officers, FBI agents (one is an ex-hostage negotiator), Canadian police officers, retired forensics investigators, etc.
I forget how many years of cumulative on-the-job experience the faculty has.
There are no teacher's assistants.
This school is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!
In fact, this year, they're completing the building a new Criminal Justice\Forensics Building, so when Katey starts classes in the fall, everything she uses will be sparkling new, and state-of-the-art!!!
They've just completed a new auditorium and lecture hall, and are in the process of adding 3 new dorm buildings, too.
I'm just so happy and excited for her, but a little sad that my "baby" is all grown up...:(
Again-thanks so much for the kind words and thoughts. Katey sends her thanks, too.

I just love the lake they've built. When we went for the initial visit, it was July, the sun was starting to set, and the lake was covered with ducks...:)
