Man indicted for murder in beating death of woman
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) -- A man is indicted on murder and manslaughter charges in the beating death of a 28-year-old mother of 3. Thirty-1-year-old Jonathan Amidon is accused of beating Karen Jones in her home in the Madison County town of Bridgeport last Friday night. Her 11-year-old son witnessed the attack and called 911. Jones died Saturday at University Hospital in Syracuse.
Amidon remains in the Madison County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Jones was a single mother who worked as a nurse's aide. Her two other children, age 4 and 6, were asleep in the home at the time of the attack.
Mourners who attended yesterday's services for Jones were given purple ribbons symbolizing a call for an end to domestic violence.
