The body of wrestler Chris Benoit has been cremated, according to his father.
Speaking from his Sherwood Park home yesterday, Michael Benoit wouldn't confirm whether his son's ashes are now in the Edmonton area, nor would he say what the family intends to do with the remains.
Contrary to a posting on a website, Michael said his son's organs were not harvested for medical use. He said it's unfortunate, but Chris's organs weren't viable for donation.
The 40-year-old WWE wrestler killed his wife Nancy and seven-year-old son Daniel before hanging himself at his Fayetteville, Ga., home June 24.
Michael told Sun Media the family is still coming to terms with the tragic deaths.
"We're trying to cope. It's a difficult time and we are trying to do our best," he said.
Michael said the family would eventually speak to the public in greater detail about their son's death. However, for now they need more time.
Benoit was born in Montreal, but grew up in Edmonton. He decided to become a wrestler at age 13.
From 1985 to 1989, Benoit competed in Stampede Wrestling. He burst onto the U.S. wrestling seen in 1994, where he became known as the "Canadian Crippler."

From a scientific standpoint, what a shame the family had Benoits body cremated. I hope the family at least allowed tissue samples etc to be taken.

R.I.P. Chris, Nancy and Daniel :rose:

I agree.

That brain trauma group wanted to study his brain...I hope they got samples-if not the whole brain.

At least he's been laid to rest...:(
