Did anyone see CBS' 'Cold Case' try to pass the crimes of Beck & Fernandez off as fictitious? Normally I love this show, but this was lame. It was as if Bruckheimer Productions assumed their viewers didn't have a clue.
The story involved a suicide named Raymond Delgado. When asked why Cold Case Unit was called for a suicide, the Lily Rush character is shown a video of a Martha Puck, who was murdered in '89. Martha and Raymond? Puck and Delgado? How stupid can we be?
It turns out Martha Puck not only connected through a dating service video with this rip off artist, the idea for the marriage & murders of the women was hers, making her his partner, same as the '40's crimes.
While the actual people died in Sing Sing's electric chair one after the other in '51, Raymond on COLD CASE shoots himself, while Martha is murdered after telling a spurned lover of his she plans to kill him. The spurned lover is desperately lonely & would have been willing to be his partner in crime. Both Beck & Fernandez died proclaiming their 'love' for one another; Delgado shot himself while watching Puck's dating video. Even the title of the episode was a rip-off: "Lonely Hearts". It's been awhile since I've felt my tv hour was so wasted.
