Danny Rolling Confessed To Three Murders Before His Execution

On Wednesday, October 25, Crime Library brought you the story of Danny Rolling's execution. Since then several new details have emerged.
During a press conference last Friday, authorities in Shreveport, Louisiana, announced Danny Rolling handed his minister a handwritten letter shortly before his execution. Within the letter, which is approximately three-paragraphs in length, Rolling confesses to a grisly triple murder 17 years ago in his hometown of Shreveport.
"Hereby, I make a formal, written statement concerning the m urder of Julie, Tom and Sean Grissom in my hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. Hal Carter, Julie Grissom's former fiancée, is 100% INNOCENT TOTALLY PURE of that crime," Rolling said in the one-page letter. "I, and I alone am guilty. It was my hand that took those precious lights out of this ole world. With all my heart & soul would I could bring them back. Being a native son of Shreveport, I can only offer this confession of deep felt remorse over the loss of such fine - outstanding souls."
According to The Orlando Sentinel, Tom Grissom, 55, his daughter Julie, 24, and his 8-year-old grandson Sean, were stabbed to death on November 4, 1989. The elder Grissom was discovered outside of his home by a BBQ grille, Sean was found slumped over next to his Halloween candy and Julie was discovered bound and mutilated, covered with bite marks and posed in a sexual position. It was later determined she had been sexually assaulted prior to her death. The murders mystified local residents and investigators had very few leads.
