Serial killer the culprit
The Post

The disbanding of the police forensic unit had its roots in the cold case review of the Claremont serial killings.
Last week's announcement came out of the blue to everyone except POST readers.
The POST had been recording for three years the botches and bungles in local murder cases that have reached the courts.
Police Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan announced the forensic unit's demise ahead of the release of the cold case review into the Pamela Lawrence murder in Mosman Park in 1994 (report page 9).

G'day. I remember those murders and it's been what now, 13 or 14 years since they occurred. Apparently the police involved then and those involved now believe it was a serial killer. This is due to the fact that the 3 women were killed in the same way. The police to this day have never made public the way the women were killed so I'm going to assume that they have hope of bringing someone to trial.
Only 2 bodies were ever recovered. The 1st girl's body, I believe, has never been found. These women weren't prostitutes or out 'deliberately' looking for trouble. They were too innocent or friendly for their own good, and they happened to cross the path of a serial killer. Like Ted Bundy, I figure this bloke must have been. Same friendly style, same line, obviously approachable and non-threatening. The victims were all well educated, the Irish girl was a solicitor, I think.
The killer's obviously either moved on, been incarcerated, or died.
