Authorities in Aberdeen, Maryland have confirmed that the bodies of two women discovered in Harford County last week are part of a pattern of killings.

Over the past year the bodies of five other women have been discovered in remote areas outside of Aberdeen. There has also been at least six attacks on woman who survived. All of the victims were working prostitutes and each one was forcibly sodomized and strangled.

A man identified as Charles Burns has been charged in six of the prostitute attacks and he is considered a suspect in the others.

One of the survivors spoke with wjz.com reporter Suzanne Collins last Wednesday and described the attack. She said she was picked up by a man at a local hotel. Once outside of town the man turned violent. "As soon as I turned around he started strangling me full force. I thought I was going to die."

Burns faces 17 counts of attempted murder, assault, first degree sex offense and theft, because in some cases he stole his victims' money and clothing.

Burns was denied bail and is currently being held in the Harford County Detention Center.
