Theo Van Gogh -- Free Speech Martyr

Theo Van Gogh, 47, the great grandson of art dealer Theo Van Gogh and great grandnephew of the famed Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh, led an extraordinary life much like his predecessors. Theo was an out-spoken and prominent Dutch film director, author, journalist, actor, producer and an advocate of free speech who used the media as an open forum to broadcast his controversial views on religion, politics and social mores and values. The candid and often provocative method he used to express his ideologies quickly propelled him into the national spotlight in the Netherlands.

At approximately 8:45 a.m. on November 2, 2004, an unknown assailant dressed in a traditional Moroccan "djelleba," brutally attacked Theo outside of a city council building as he bicycled to work in central Amsterdam. The attacker shot Theo Van Gogh and stabbed him repeatedly in the chest, callously disregarding his victim's pleas for mercy. Despite his life-threatening injuries, Theo was able to gain enough momentum to stumble to the other side of the street but by the time he made his way across, his attacker shot and stabbed him again. He then slit Theo's throat with a butcher knife as onlookers gasped in sheer horror.

Welcome to a country which was well known for it's acceptance of everybody and everything. The Dutch accepted foreign workers for many decades while the money the workers earned went straght back to the countries where their families lived.

The Dutch are a very generous people. The Dutch have also come to the end of their generosity. Many Dutch no longer care for "refugees" that end up with more rights than the native born Dutch.

The Netherlands has a housing shortage, has had for many years. In order for a person/couple to move into an apartment, one must register with the city and is put on a waiting list which, depending on the community, may take years. Many people from outside the country, often Muslims, are granted immediate housing. These apartments are fully furnished (including washer, dryer, flooring and furniture all of which one normally installs oneself). These people then strip the apartments, sell anything they can and sublet the apartment back to Dutch people who are on long waiting lists at a much inflated rate.

In the mean time the "refugees" live with relatives, are given welfare and full medical benefits until such time as they are ready to integrate into society which because of the lack of willingness to integrate and learning the language is happening less and less.

It's saddening indeed that a country which was once so accepting of other cultures, can no longer afford to see it's own people robbed and taken advantage of. Discrimination or self-preservation? Muslims now make up 20% of the country's population. Taxes are sky high.

Just look at the riots taking place in France. Cars being burned all over the place by people who feel they have the right to work, even if they don't speak the language.

You can bet on it that if the situation was reversed (let's pretend poor white christian folks would reallly want to emigrate to Saudi Arabia) the refugees would not be given the same privileges which some see as rights.
