You've done a lot of research, benhill - you know an awful amount already and you do supply many answers, facts and figures. Actually, many of us (outside the area) have found out so much more about the history, the goings-on and the status quo in this little town through you. Lots of links verifiying these things, lol. You sure you gonna be safe in them thar Ocills-hills?
Let us know what all will be resolved, clarified, discounted and confirmed. Case may be closed much earlier!

Had you brought your gossip spreading butt down here to help you could have seen with your own eyes the time and effort that the local LE and local citizens put into beating the bushes to find Tara. Day after day, week after week. You would have seen sleep deprived LE and citizens in tears and driven by determination. You would have seen an organized effort that started at sunup and didn't end until darkness forced them out. You also would have heard Anita sing the praises of the community and LE the way I did. You would have seen the progression of this mess the way I have. You would have seen the way people were alienated and pushed away one by one by one. Maybe then you could understand. But you didn't, did you?
Much of what you hear now is fear, frustration, sadness and yes, fatigue. Fatigue. 5 months is a long time to hope. 5 months is a long time to be crucified over the unknown when all you want to do is help. 5 months is a long time to experience the high of thinking resolution is coming only to have those hopes dashed again and again. What is wrong with admitting fatigue? Some of you act as if it is a crime in and of itself. Come live this nightmare for 5 months and tell me what you feel.
It is understandable that the family would be irrational now. So would I if my family member were missing without a trace. But the rest of you? Those of you in a position to support Anita would best serve her by being a voice of reason. By helping her work WITH LE instead of against them. By fanning the flames you are not helping Tara - you are hurting her.
I have to agree with a poster who said that Tara would not be happy about this mess. Tara CHOSE this community because she loved it here and this community loved her too.
Some of you are a disgrace to yourselves and to Tara. I pray they find her and find the truth about what happened to her. When that happens there will be a lot of people who owe apologies to many but most importantly to Tara.
Why the ridicule of me ...when not every one on this board chooses that opinion....Thank goodess we are all entitled to one. I am sorry you feel the way you do....sometimes the TRUTH does hurt even when it is about the ones we love/admire/respect, etc.

Yaiks.... i got under impression you are older than Tara.
Actually on your statement about locals not being here- you are wrong. Anyone is welcome to post on this board and share opinion but i think the non-locals are just used to the courttv policy that if you are stating a fact then you have to supply a link to back it up but some local ( not all ) posters tried to make statement and consider it as a fact without providing a link which i know is frustrating because the ones you know are usually not on the media.

Like I believe that is sincere or the fact that you are a student of Tara's, really Nancy. I am here for Tara only. I am not here to pillage the town of Ocilla nor am I here to discount others that have opinions whether it is mine or not. I have seen some that are totally blindsided to evil and will give in to it because they don't seem to have an option. I am not one of those. Hi concernedperson. (IMO:) It appears to be the case with some posters - out to either attack or put down those with different views ... or to misquote/mislead/mismanage the 'specifics'. (Not you.)
Those of us who state a theory or an opinion that's 'not in the general run of the acceptance-mill' are shredded and spat out in public - and then continually jibed.
Those of us who do ask for clarification are lamb-basted for daring to probe; yet we have to sit here and sift through 'rubble' when some claims are made that are not true.
I don't know any of the posters here, but I know I have a right to pursue my interest and thoughts on this case - in this forum and am definitely not intimidated by what others think or feel about me. Those thoughts are irrelevant and I let it go.
Seeker made a point that Anne B was INVOLVED in both searches. His/her (Seeker's) post did not state Anne B's dogs made any 'hits' or 'alerts' at either the house or the pond. Seeker merely clarified Anne's dogs were INVOLVED in both searches. J4T comes in with a disparaging spiel about "WRONG. getting your facts straight - Anne'S dogs were NOT at both places," where in fact... THEY were, the dogs simply didn't alert in both places.
J4T opened a thread saying "Now that it's out there in the media, what are the comments about the VAR." Truth: There was (and has NOT been *any* media release re Tara's VAR.)
J4T opened a thread about the press conference for crop dusting. This, again, was not not true.
J4T also regularly submits: 'WRONG AGAIN" far too often and "I know; MY sources... Wait and see ... you'll find out soon enough... I can't say right now...I am on to it ..."
The above are but a few of the posts made. Woe betides anyone who disputes them; yet they're provocative and come across as egotistical.
Sorry, but after reading all these posts I, too cannot help but wonder J4T's objectives when the above comments are thrown before us - as a newbie he landed here with an abrupt voice, openly dismissed, sighed, reproached or sneered at anyone he felt was 'below' his intelligence or knowledge. That's how it came across to me, anyway - whether my views are relevant or not, doesn't matter...
There may be brilliant people out there, but personally - I don't like it when posters come over like this - knocking those posters who are not 'on the money' or calling them dumb, etc. That's hostile and unkind. Or... as holier than thou, in preacher-sermon style, throwing the Book of Life at those of us who don't quote back the ultimate faith as represented in Hebrews chapter 11.
And - for the record, IMO is *NOT* a rule here; please see hotwater's (locked) sticky.
The above is my interpretation: to all of you over there involved in this, my thoughts are with you as you continue to carry the torch for justice and closure.

Please interrogate, if you ABSOLUTELY MUST, in a pm Matthews - and allow the person the option to either ignore or respond to you PRIVATELY.
This is a global forum - this kind of 'policing' is not acceptable - you do not know WHO is lurking out there and you're asking for personal, private DETAIL???.
Honestly! You claim righteousness in your right hand while looking to find fault with others and what they say or DON'T say (imo...) in your left hand. Judgemental? Oh my: lions and tigers and bears, OH MY .. !

Before every one wants to know if I found Tara...No but I sure wish I could say yes. Did any of you find her while I was gone???
I arrived in Ocilla around10:45am this morning.I also reached over into Coffee County as well during my time there.
The local Ocilla restaurant "Peck's" had the WALB crew there yesterday which is what we have already discussed. I was told by a couple who sat in "Peck's" eating near the media coverage that there were not many takers on the issue of speaking to the media. One gentlemen simply said he did not want to comment so maybe the achor interviewing took what she could get since the list of takers wasn't too long. However, the locals I visisted today stated that no one wants to talk to her (the anchor) because of what they may ask or what they may have to answer.
Take that for what it is worth....IMHO because I work out with a lady every day who can talk about it without creating falsehoods, speculating, etc. INMO....the locals at the restaurant know that there are other locals eating and watching so the pressure could be there to watch what you say and if you aren't comfortable doing so, then just don't speak. This especially made the couple I knew who were eating there take a second look because the person who didn't want to interviewed is, according to them, the one person who would have had plenty to say about any subject matter. But...maybe the powers of state down there have tried to enforce some sort of "gag" order. I am only speculating.
I know that no matter what I post here it will received by some to be beneficial and others would just assume I go on to bed. But...I am not sleepy since I finally arrived back home so I will continue.
As far a scoop on Local LE, I rode along with a couple of business owers today who informed me that even though they are in a bad section of town and are supposed to be monitored by LE at night, that they had situations arise where tires were removed from autos and put up on blocks and to their understanding it is not that large of an area to police. In fact, I could have walked to the building that houses the LE.
So you wonder where I am going with that one. Ok...here goes ...
Another poster mentioned on here a while back that they too had riden to Ocilla but in the early hours of the morning. Not much activity was observed by any one. I guess that brings me to the resolve that if thugs can strip a car of some tires within sight of the LE, then Tara could possibly never been seen by the right LE. I am not saying the perp didn't have some LE buddies helping him but just that the right one...if one was on duty would not have seen a thing. The owners proceeded to discuss the LE that they felt were true LE...you know..the kind that rides around and protects the streets at night. They also had a few choice comments for some of the others. But...Det. Bill Barrs was given a thumbs up from them so take that for what it is worth.
Today they were discussing the Alapaha River (BIG) and the fact that one of the gentlemen I was with actually felt like when he passed over the bridge he sensed Tara was there. I am only relaying this to you because the talk is that to dredge or search in that particular river will be a painstaking process but worth it if
we find Tara
The locals I rode with today do not think Tara is alive. They also are not sure she will be found (but I disagree). Seems that people there know more about her personal life than her disapperance...and I found that sad and sickening.
Without changing the subject too much, over in Coffee County when rumors started flying about Big Rob or whatever it is you all call him began....there had been stories aready circulating due to the family connections in that office and those of the court house in the tax commissioner's office. This all began back several years ago so it is not relevant to Tara but important for other reasons. I will not elaborate on Coffee County unless someone asks me too.
The bows for Tara are old and faded. I felt saddened to see them still hanging rather than being updated with fresh color. There were many LE cars out today, more than I usually see when I am down there, but hey...they may be looking for their quota for the week on tickets and such.
Nevertheless, I brought back some information that I went for as well as some insight from the community. Sorry if none of this is helpful to any of you but it is all I got for now that can be posted.
If you had me checking on other things of interest, please PM and let's see if we made any progress there.
I will be going back to Ocilla on Friday and have the chance to have access to better information.

Well, thank-you, seeker.
(IMO) :D ... trying to catch people WITH REQUESTS FOR PERSONAL DETAILS AND PRIVATE NAMES of OTHER PEOPLE in public is not only illegal (as the cheerleader would rightfully sue for having his/her name out on the internet) is totally unbecoming. Are some people so naive when it comes to the Internet? Lord - next thing this cheerleader is tracked and stalked? WHAT then?????
But, equally importantly is: WHAT is the objective? To be lauded as 'clever' ?
To have everyone scoff or sneer at them? "Do unto others as you would have done unto you..." may ring a bell, but then, perhaps there's no cap on the bell, sometimes, lol.
If I did that, I'd apologize for over-stepping the mark. But that's just me. And as for antagonistic posts against me - heh heh I take it as like reading a book (i most certainly don't have open arguments with what's written on a page and dive into complete turmoil. If I did .... I'd opt for serious meds and a straight-jacket, lol... - I accept their opinions, just don't respond... So what?)

About your post - I was interested in the criminal activity that happens at night by business owners so close to the LE offices.
I am curious if that happens mostly on the weekend?
And I also am wondering still how many cars usually patrol at night in Ocilla and since the sheriff's office is in Ocilla too- I thought this would make the town even safer! I was surprised the crimes occur so close to LE.
Made me wonder - if someone had a police scanner couldn't they keep up with the movements of the police -even offer a distraction to ensure the coast was clear?
Just puzzles me how the County seat with Sheriffs and Local LE - someone was bold enough to snatch a woman from her home which was right nextdoor to a City Councilman!
I can't find any paper that shows the blotter for Ocilla - most towns even small ones have a section that runs in the local (usually weekly) paper that tells where the police calls were and the court actions. What is Ocilla's local paper? Are there more than one? which one has the rights to run the legal notices?
Enough for you BenHill. I will bid all a fine and peaceful good night.
The name of the paper for Ocilla is The Ocilla Star. I agree with you that such calls are usually reported. I know they are in Fitzgerald.:rose: Always for Tara

I don't find this odd at all. In my area in VA, the worst places in town seem to be right by the police stations. There are more drugs, more robberies, more everything. This also happens to be the only place in town where prostitutes walk the streets.
Not sure if this is just a small town thingy or what???? Maybe you're right, these people monitor the police radio's and know where the cops are so they know when LE will not be around.

I know the big day of your risking life and limb to go into the Ocilla jungles has surly come and gone. So where is the big folder of information you were going to gleam for these CTV dectectives? How were you treated? what did you find? Did you help in anyway with the search or even put up a poster for Tara? What did you do? I read your puzzle about maybe talking with someone at the White Horse but wait that is in Fitzgerald, and it another post you talked about the White Horse Thursday nite wonders like you are a regular. Thanks benhill...hope you find time to post more of your observations. The more I can get a "feel" for Ocilla, the more I understand their silence or reluctance to speak out.
