Guess who.............
I have not disappeared, but I did receive a temporary ban for attacking someone on a thread. I have also been out of town and moving the last week. If I have anything worthwhile to post or a good reply to any questions, I'll sure do it. I just don't want to be accused of attacking anyone else, so I'll keep my postings to the basics and follow the rules like a good CTVer always should.
Thanks for checking up on me! (You PMers, too!)

Hey, I, too, wondered if you were on vacation or something! I thought I'd see you posting on Mary W. and haven't noticed you there. But glad you are back here. Are we getting closer to a resolution??? Let's hope and pray.

Tara's family and friends have been searching places of interest, especially where the cadaver dogs had previously alerted to, near the structure which burned via a suspicious fire.
The spot the dogs kept alerting to, was adjacent to a pond. The specific land area is said to be approximately 18 inches by 6 feet.
An item was found in/near the pond, which Tara's sister will not disclose. It was given to the GBI for forensic testing, and it's said to be an item not generally associated with a person. Those responsible for the care of the pond stated that the item is definitely one which should not be expected to be found there. This is old hat hey paula. As far as I am concerned it could be a yo-yo. Until GBI says something of interest has been found I will put that in the rumor category.

The family is organizing searches based on tips provided through the Tara Center. The searches are made up of volunteers and friends of the family. Perhaps you would like to volunteer to search, if so contact the Tara Center. If you are unable to search perhaps you would like to make a donation to the center. What else would you like to know about the searches?
I understood the need for a command center early on in the case.
But I question the needed purpose of such expense at this point in time.
I would like to know why the Tara Center is not running out of the families home or something cheaper that doesn't require donated support for rent and electricity and phonelines etc.
I would like to know if the Tara Center has registered for non-profit status.
I would like to know how donated funds have been appropriated and what the center has left to work with.
I would like to know if records are being maintained regarding donations.
I'm pretty clear on searches. I would expect a large portion of funds would be applied to things like hiring dog teams when the hunting area is considered high interest.
That makes some sort of sense to me, but having a $500 a month office setting at this point in time does not.
If you know more, can you help provide some clarity so that people will WANT to make more donations?

I am sure that is OK Atok, but I think the Tara Center will be around without your help. AS they have made it through searches, and information to people in other states, and all the many things the director would be glad to tell you about.
I find it sad that things like this are disputed by those that have never and will never help the Tara Center in anyway Or the Search for Tara in anyway.
This board is NOT the search.
Take yourself out to dinner and think about how good that makes you feel.

Not that I should have to open my financial records to you; but the fact is you have no idea what contributions I have made. My personal financial support is not public knowledge, nor should it be.
However, the public should know how the contributions are being appropriated if you expect people to keep supporting the center.
You are correct that I won't support something that can't even identify it's purpose.

I have no desire to make a long distance call and chat it all out with Ms. F*******, when there are people on this board that see her everyday and could just ask/answer the basic questions without getting defensive and bullying. I know lots of people have these questions so I thought I'd be brave and ask them. I can see why people didn't want to post these types of questions themselves, becuase look where it's getting me...
ANYWAY
I thought I read that $500 figure in the Tifton Gazette regarding leasing out the two office suites on Cherry, but I returned to that article and do not see that figure OR any figure reported in that story.
Perhaps it was released in something else, so I'll keep looking, OR my memory may be incorrect, but I recall thinking... "if they are paying $500 for office space, why not just pay the rent on Tara's house and work from there..."
I can't answer now where that figure came from, so perhaps you can ask Ms. F******* YOURSELF (which would not be long distance calling on MY part) what it costs to lease and if that is the primary expense needing to be covered. Or not.
You don't seem to have any concern about where these donations go or how they are used.
I've been around a long time, and have supported a whole host of charitable causes, after awhile you start to ask questions about purpose and use of monies donated.
For example, when donating through the Combined Federal Campaign I read through the charities eligible and I look for those who use less than 10% of the proceeds on administrative staff and salaries. I want my donation spent directly on the cause.
I don't ask all these questions becuase because I want it shut down, it's becuase I want it to be effective.
We're going on 7 months... asking what the money is used for is not crazy.

I think questioning the outlays of the search center is appropriate as long as they continue to ask for donations.
For the life of me I cannot really think of what they would need to spend further money on.
If there were active searches, I could understand food, first aid supplies, gasoline, equipment rental, etc. But I'm not aware of any active searches underway.
Maybe they have some in the works and are working toward the goal of being able to finance those searches. I really don't know because no one has said one way or the other.
But I feel anybody who comes out to the public and asks for money should be prepared to say what the money is being used for, it's only fair and it might even make more people donate if they can see the results and understand the use.

This is my (as an outsider) opinion only of this line of questioning.
Maybe others closer can add or tell me I am wrong.
There is a power struggle going on in Ocilla. This group had their center in a room on school property. NG sent a crew down there and they were disrupted by a person. If this was just a rumor. Please tell me. The show was cancelled. Some people in the town went on camera and said they did not want the nation wide attention. Like get out of here and leave us alone is the impression I got. These people doing this have influence in this town. Tara's family, Linda, and Teens for Tara want to keep the center open and to do this, they had to move out on their own. No one can come in now and throw a tantrum and scare people off. I am sure that it costs money to rent this place. Water bill, electricity, etc. I am sure some searches are still going on. They have bands that are participating for donations. If you do not support this, it is simple, do not give.
Of course someone has the right to ask where the funds go, if they really want to know, call the Center. If they think it is illegal, report them. So simple. I followed the Taylor Behl case and they had a band fund raising, no questions were asked. There just seems to be an underlying motive here to me.

Taylor Behl wasn't missing for 6 months.
But they stated outright that the money they were raising was to go towards a reward fund. That's a pretty straightforward description of what the funds were going to be used for.

I'm reading this and it seems only a couple of you are interested in where the donations go, so it makes sense if one of you who is asking should just call the center and ask them that question. I was just wondering why you'd ask someone else to do that for you since you are the one wanting to know. Most people have cell phones these days anyway and long distance is usually free on those isn't it? Not trying to make trouble, but these posts just don't make sense to go on and on and on about something that could be answered with one phone call. JMO.

I would make the call but I am not worried about it. I have T-Mobile and LD is free. I would much rather spend my minutes on something that would add to or solve this crime. In fact, that is what I do.
It was an easy question, it got all wrapped up in drama like everything else that gets questioned in this case and frankly, I don't really care enough.
The bottom line is no one has to give if they don't think it will help.

IMO i agree that they can probably choose a cheaper place to hold the center but remember they did that and was removed by BOE so we cant blame them if they get a place that will do multiple task like "meeting place" , answer tips , research and probably even watch this message board ( LOL )...I think Nancy is right on her post above. No one is being force to donate anyways - you donate because you think you will help the family but you dont donate to scrunitize them then better not donate at all. I think AG's family can afford the cost of $500 a month rental for that center without any donations at all ... If they will rent a $2000 rent for the center then its their choice... you are not obligated to donate $100 bucks or $500 bucks... even a $1-5 donation is ok if it will come to your heart.
I hope you dont scrunitinize the amount they get from the donations just because you dont like AG. IMO AG and her family didnt force anyone to participate on this cause as far as i know :(
