View Full Version : Clay on Tara's Tires......?

I just read that Anita Gattis said their was clay on Tara's tires , I believe this information is new, at least to us anyway. Does asnyone know if this clay can be tested....? I would think that this could be traced back to where it came from.....? BTW- What exactly is clay...(I know what molding clay is) is this just another term for dirt? The information I read about the tires can be found following one of the most resent links in the thread "Links".

Clay on the tires is a very important new fact I have never seen until now. The roads around Ocilla can be all different varieties of clay, and or sand, of differeing quality. The exact type of clay may be important in finding the road the car traveled. Clay ranges from a deep dark red to a light brown, depending on how much other soil is mixed in. Very significant

I also thought it would be important to the investigation, but why was this the first we heard of it? I wonder if this was the reason for searching in other county's? Maybe they have already tested the clay?

From what my sources are telling me, the car is being privately inspected, and that means top to bottom. There is clay, you are correct about that. From what my sources in Ocilla are telling me, there is direct evidence linking Marcus Harper and Sean Fletcher to the car.

Color me confused.
mHayguard = Larry Harriett = Courtnet?
Are you the same person? The one getting these interviews with Anita? Is there "direct evidence" or is that just your opinion or something Anita thinks? Please straighten this out and enlighten us!
As someone else pointed out, Tara drove to MH's house on 10-14; that house being on a dirt road. For Anita to say Tara never drove on dirt roads is very unconvincing.

Yes, you are correct. Okay, lets be clear, I got a call from a source in Ocilla that has told me that there is IN FACT direct evidence that is linking Marcus Harper and Sean Fletcher to Tara's car. This source has fed me credible information in the past that proved true, and I have no reason to doubt this source.
Just because a source fed you credible info in the past is not reason enough for US to cross everyone off our lists.
If there is direct evidence linking Tara's car to MH, well, well....why wouldn't there be? He was her boyfriend for 6 years and even though they've been broken up, I'm sure he's probably been in that car, right? Since she had driven to his home, I'm sure it's entirely possible he could have come out and SAT in the car with her at some point, so I would EXPECT his DNA or something to be in her car or on her car.
As for Fletcher, isn't he the one that responded to her home to write the report on AV? Well, just for the sake of doubt, lets just say maybe he laid his clipboard on her trunk, or maybe he stood next to her car door....and a print is lifted from there. I don't really think this is the case, but for the argument of doubt, he was at her home to write a report on AV, right? and MH, well, I feel sure he's been in her car before, so at this point, we can't rule everything else out.
We have to be careful of what we believe and what we disregard and what we hold to be the solid gold truth-through and through.
If you can give us anything else that helps us, that would be great, but for you to just post a rumor here about direct evidence, well .....I guess it ALL hinges on WHO told you about that evidence......and could it have been planted by someone who DESPERATELY cannot stand to be wrong?
Desperate people do desperate things. An example would be:
If Anita really believes MH or Officer F, or AV had anything to do with this and is desperate to prove it, maybe she could PLANT something in the car.
OR, another example could be that if SOMEBODY knows what they did to Tara and they are trying to cover their own tracks, well, THEY could very well plant evidence to point somewhere else.
Think about this people: That car sat there for a long time after Tara disappeared.
What about the direct evidence linking the neighbor to the car?
Did HE ever have a reason to be in her car in the past? I can't imagine what that was, but people discount him because he's such a kind old man and besides, he ADMITTED being in it.
Just because he's admitted BEING in the car before police were, does that mean we should excuse him as a possible suspect?
IMO, no.
Also, IMO, MH has a better reason to explain any DNA of his found in Tara's car than the neighbor or Fletcher. Even Vickers came right out and said that Tara use to pick him up and they went to her home to hang out and watch movies and stuff, so his DNA could easily be found in the car also.
I'm not sold on or excited about this info. There is too much doubt about the credibility of the source and we can use our common sense to explain why evidence of AV and MH could be in the car.
I can't imagine why anything regarding Fletcher would be IN the car. If it's actually IN the car, well, then that's a different story.

They have probably had this evidence for a while.. They may just need more proof or a confession.. I believe MHayguard, he has no reason to lie to us, he's on Tara's side here and wants to help her as much as the rest of us.. To me it's a relief to hear the investigation is active..

Check out pix #10 of Greta following MH. It is a dirt road and IMO that red dust is clay. Can anyone find out if it rained before that Saturday night?

Red clay is much more abundant in Central Georgia. White sandy clay in South Gerogia.

It did not say in the newspaper article what color the clay was.
But in the pix I posted it does show MH living on a dirt road or at least traveling on one to get to town.

Gattis feels her sister left with someone she knew on the night she disappeared. Her house was locked but her car, a pearl white Mitsubishi 3000 GT, was unlocked and in the carport, with $100 in the console and clay on the tires.

When I call Anita tommorrow I will ask her to verify this for me. My best sources are telling me that this is true, but I still need to verify it with Anita.

She may not be able to disclose that info unfortunately.. I'm hoping she does confirm what you said though.. I want this family to have closure.. I can't imagine how Tara's parents feel.. I don't know what I'd do if my son were missing.. :(

Clay on the tires is a very impt forensic tool i guess. They can probably check how long that clay is on that tire and what type of clay is it and the location of that kind of clay. The lab needs to compare color, texture and composition

A well-known criminologist is hoping that a tiny chunk of clay pried from the bottom of a car and a fragment of pine bark pried from the recesses around a fog lamp could hold the key to solving the months-long mystery of what happened to missing school teacher and beauty queen Tara Grinstead.

I found a website that archives weather. Seems like it had been dry in Ga for about 2 weeks. The last rain was on Oct. 6,7,and 8th. It does not have Irwin county, but has Wilcox, Macon, and Hawkinsville.
I do not think a tire would pick up a chunk of clay unless it is wet. No rain, so that car had to be near some water.

No, it is not NEW news, but I had been wondering if the roads were muddy from rain and this says no rain on that weekend or the week before.

From the dates on the posts that started this thread, I gather that nothing ever came from the alleged clay on Tara's tires?
This is truly what ticks me off. Rumors don't help this case, they only cause it to be thwarted.
I've said this numerous times, but anyone could post anything on the net.

seriously, you are so right. really. it makes it hard because people can be so trusting and we just want to believe something. it's been a real learning experience for me.

you nailed philosophical and messed up "the"! now that's my kind of post! :D
good advice though and i have come to the conclusion that even looking them in the eye is a tough call. i have encountered some very good liars especially over the last year and i was looking eye to eye with some of them!
i think the more extreme the situation the more cautious one must be. but you have to also be able to sort through and make a decision - even at the risk of being wrong now and then.
i think there is such a thing as too much caution. it's a fine line and who knows where it really is.
i'm all done with this fillossafrying now!

of course you are cynical. you would almost have to be to do what you do for a living. i would think that it is a very good trait for you to have.
life experiences. who we are, how we process information, how we behave - all driven by our personal experiences. and that is the reason there are such wide ranges of differing opinions here. and everywhere. that is why we so often misunderstand each other.
we expect others to see the world the way we do, hear things the way we hear them, react the way we would react. it just doesn't work that way.
as a species, we are inherently egomaniacal.
