Do you think it is REALLY from R.R? It is really weird, to read things from R.R, making himself seem like an average every day Joe Shmo. Kind of makes me feel sorry for him. Then all I have to do is look at his ugly mug, and realization kicks in, to what a **** he really is.

I think it will take me a long time to read this thread, but I am amazed at the interest. I was a little girl living in San Fran during that time. My dad is a forensic scientist and was very interested in this case. He was never involved, but he kept us up late at night scaring the crap out of me and my mom. I didn't understand all of it then, but I now appreciate the fear we all had. It is amazing that he is still alive. Is he still married to the crazy girl that snared him?

Hi Nathalie,
I'd actually recommend googling Richard Ramirez or "Night Stalker," as IMHO the writeup here on Crime Library isn't the best. More detailed accounts of his capture can be found elsewhere, actually.

Yes, as far as I know the "crazy girl" is still married to him... someone claiming to be her has posted on this site, but nobody seems to know for sure if it is really her.

I happened to be visiting the L.A. area when he was captured, and seem to remember that his MO usually, though not always, involved situations were he used unlocked doors or open windows to gain access to his victims' homes. The best defence against him was to secure doors and windows properly, though it was a hot summer, and that made for some discomfort.

On the other hand, each of his attacks was a little different, unlike most serial killers. Again, unlike most serial killers, his attacks came close together and he was stupid enough to leave fingerprints behind. The frequency of his attacks drastically heightened vigilance of both law enforcement and citizens, and that lead to his identification and capture.

Someone became suspicious of an orange Toyota, and reported it. It was found to be stolen, and at least one good fingerprint was found in it. The police staked it out, but he didn't come back for it. However, the print matched some left at at least one crime scene, and a computer search finally matched those prints with an existing record. His picture was released, and he was caught within 24 hours, largely due to the vigilance of ordinary citizens. They might well have killed him if Law Enforcement hadn't arrived on the scene promptly.

Karin, if you "had a real problem writing him" and felt like you were "committing a terrible sin to contact such a person," why do it? Why even come to a message board about Richard? Also, just so you know, the fastest way to make sure you never get a second letter from Richard is to go on the Internet and tell "y'all" about the first one.

I don't know if it was actually PRISON, or just the county jail, but Sean Penn really was incarcerated some years ago--probably on some drug charges, can't remember for sure. What I do remember is that he was allowed to leave his cell (wherever it was) to go on set every day. I imagine, even if he wasn't in any of the scenes shot that day. 'Cuz the film was soooo important.

Anyway, I don't think he was ever really in San Quinten, let alone w/RR. DR prisoners don't have cell mates, don't have contact w/much of anyone except visiting day. OTOH, w/Sean Penn being such an important celebrity and all, he might have gotten the guards to let him visit RR, if he was incarcerated in San Quentin.

Yes, Walther firearms are still manufactured and evolving. They are said to be durable and reliable, but pricey.

Grind very slowly in CA! Tookie Williams a POS who in 1979 murdered 4 people in cold blood and was not executed for 24 years!!! I find it hard to wrap my mind around why RR has not been executed yet either, he terrorized an entire city for weeks, he raped as well as murdered and is a devout Satanist! No, instead he sits in San Q and has visits with his blushing bride Doreen who is a sick puppy in her own right, she actually thinks and I quote: "He is a warm and loving human being, he is kind and gentle" BARF! Kinda hard to rape and torture a woman behind bars! She holds court over the other sick puppy groupies because she married him and that galls me to my last nerve. This POS murdered 14 people and he got to get married, he has color cable TV in his cell, three hots, can go outside and bask in the warm CA air, can have visits with wifey and the most disgusting part, he still has appeals left with the courts to save his sorry ass from execution probably for another 10 years!!

I fully expect to be in my grave when they execute Scott Peterson and I am 50! CA needs to follow TX, they don't bask on the taxpayers very long in TX and this past month, they have executed I think 3 real sick puppies and in TX they are locked down 23 hours, they don't associate with other inmates, they can exercise in a dog cage an hour a day and visits are only granted near the execution date, they get 3 hots a day and they don't have cable or AC and this is how they should live, with only the basics and FL also follows TX, they can only have 13' B&W TV's and no cable or AC and the average stay on DR is 12 years not 20! RR is living better than he did on the streets! I read one day what they were served for dinner at San Q and it did not sound half bad. Baked chicken, rice, gravy, veggies, and ice cream for dessert!! They should be getting only bread and water!!! I have actually about 5 years ago wrote CA's Dept of Corrections about this scumbag and they told me that he had appeals left and here it is almost 2009 and he has been in jail 20 years already!! Disgusting! I feel if you have the only person that a million to one odds that did the crime and they are given a death sentence then you carry it out in a timely fashion like they do in other countries, 30-90 days, is reasonable, and certainly would save taxpayer's billions of dollars that they shell out to house, feed, and amuse and their lawyer bills, it is staggering to think how much CA shells out, because they have about 1,000 inmates on DR in San Q alone, now this is just a estimate, for all I know there are more and if it cost taxpayers $35,000 a year for just one inmate, and they sit on DR for 20 years plus, look how much money the taxpayers have had to shell out for one beyond redemption POS who should not even be breathing 20 years later!!! I think you guys in CA need to write the Gov there a letter and ask him to speed up the process, I know if I lived there, I would haunt him on this!!!

I TOTALLY agree with everything you said here!!! What did you mean by R.R having "3 hots" while being in jail? 3 messed up concubines, or something? Hello everyone!
Just had my account activated which took a few days!! In the mean time Iīve read almost this entire thread
How come Richard has his own thread with hundreds of comments and ppl interested in him and his case, when almost no other serial killer has one? Not even the infamous Ted Bundy!?! Iīm just curious to know why he seems to get to ppl more than all of the others?
(I could ofcourse ask myself since Iīm here also but Iīm much more interested in your answers ;) )

And by the way, I have a few questions that probably no one knows the answer to but you never know for sure until you ask
Just finished reading Philip Carlos book and in the end of the book he mentioned that they made a tv-movie called Manhunt about R. Does anyone know where you can watch that movie here on the internet? Also Current Affair wrote an article about him called Death Row Romeo. That would be interesting to read but I havenīt been able to find it. Does anyone know if it even exists on the net or has anybody read it?

...and I was waiting for Carlo to mention later in the book if Richard ever got an answer when he wrote to Ted Bundy but he never did. I wonder what in the world Richard wanted to ask Bundy about?!? That seemed kind of creepy... and also awoke my curiosity! Does he write to other serial killers aswell??

Hi Jenna, welcome to the CL...I was thinking about why RR has his own thread and the interest he receives over other serial killers and thought about why he interests me. I basically stumbled onto him while investigating someone else and I was amazed at the arrogance he portraited during his arrest and court battle. I started looking into him more and found myself intrigued by his story. He was good looking and acted like such a bad boy in court. This is what makes him stand out more than others and has allowed him to keep quite a following of groupies.........Go figure?

They say that RR was always interested in serial killers so I am sure he wanted to chat with Ted before they fried him....

Don't think you can watch that movie unless you download.....don't get caught.

And thanks for your answer regarding the interest in Richard. When I ask myself that question the answer is so shallow I dare not even write it down ;)

Would I just have loved to be a fly on the wall when Richard and Ted wrote to each other (if they actually did)! Reading their letters would have been highly amusing, imaging the discussion between the two of them!?! It's a good movie and I like Richard Jordan, the actor who portrayed Salerno. Richard, Salerno and Carillo actually watched the moivie together and they found it laughable. Guess nothing can compare to reality. Happy viewing. ;)

To my knowledge, Ted Bundy was an idol of Richard's, but I believe his biggest hero was Jack the Ripper. I don't recall anything about the two corresponding and even if that would have been allowed.

You seem to have read Carlos book aswell ;) I remember that part too, when he wrote about them watching the video together. Itīs quite an interesting trio to be sitting down watching a movie! But I also remember them saying that it was weird because they found him to be a rather likeable guy!

Carlo also wrote in his book about Richard wanting to write to Ted and that Doreen, doing everything for him ofcourse, got the address for him. But thatīs all he mentioned. I donīt know if he ever did write or what he wanted to ask Ted about or if he got an answer. I was waiting for that to come up but it didnīt.

LOl! Sorry Jenna I really do like to discuss Richard but I haven't posted in a while because I prefer to get in depth and leave the chatter to the more sociable posters here!
I have always found the women who befriend then date or marry these serial killers particularly interesting. I just can't quite rap my head around it; the last time it was brought up though it degenerated pretty quick with people just wanting to personally insult Doreen because she reads here from time to time. I have kind of given up hope of having someone like Doreen to be able to explain it to me in terms I can relate too simply because I see too much denial in what she says but I guess the attraction of someone who can never control you or hurt you but is infinitely interesting because they are so diabolical must really appeal to some(too bad if they ever get out though:tongue:Protection witness program here I come lol!). I have always had trouble believing that Richard was remorseful and I even find Doreens comments towards people whose families suffered at Richards twisted hands shows a distinct lack of remorse. I think Richard made such an impact becasue before everyone knew what a loser druggie tryhard he was he absolutely terrified people. I still hear people making comments about what it was like to live around that area before he was caught and all the precautions that people would take.
I'd write more but I really have to get so shut eye my eyes are turning square. BTW I always read the posts on this thread but I live in Australia so I am really online when you guys are all sleeping so you have to give me time to respond.

RR is an evil scumbag who should have walked the green mile 20 years ago and yet, he is still sitting in San Q visiting with his blushing bride, and I think back to the trial where he often interrupted the testimonies with his outbursts about Satan and would draw pentagrams on his hand and flash it to the media, not one iota of remorse has he ever shown and yet his victim's families are still waiting for justice and I am outraged that CA is so slack on executing death row inmates? What is the point of having the DP if you are not going to execute them in a timely fashion? I already know I will be in my grave when they needle Scott Peterson, I figure at least he sits for 20 years and I think every taxpayer in CA ought to revolt and get Arnold to start up the process and start executing scumbags like RR. Richard Allen Davis, the rapist and murderer of Polly Klass is sitting in San Q too and has a girlfriend and he too is free to roam the grounds of the prison basking in the CA sunshine when all of these dirtbags should be 70 feet underground with no sunlight and locked down 24 hours a day, a hot a day, and a shower maybe once a week, no TV or radios, no phone, mail, and sure as hell can't marry anyone, no library books, just the four walls to stare at till they get the needle. I find it appalling that death row inmates can get married or even get to have pen pals and we have all gone round 2 over this, but it does not sound like RR is doing hard time, I am surprised he does not get trailer visits with his scum wife! He gets everything else!

As far as the death penalty is concerned. Iīve always been against it. I just donīt think itīs right and it gives me shivers down my spine when I think about it. I know many americans votes in favour for it. Here in Sweden we donīt even get to vote and Iīm glad because I find it totally inhuman. Sure, alot of people might deserve it but their families donīt! Hey Jenna nice to see you :) I haven't read Carlo's book i'll have to get around to it and about Bundy And Richard writing to each other it could of been about Bundys Foot Fetish? I'm with Jenna on this one, I take the view that we lower ourselves to the level of killers when we advocate for execution. There are times when a case affects me so much I want to change my stance but I just can't. I would like to see 'life sentence' start to mean just that though.

About Doreen...When did she say that she was going to kill herself when Richard is executed? Did she say that recently or around the time when she first met him? Hopefully she has come to her senses by now. Maybe the delusion sheīs been under is beginning to cease. Mr. good-looking high cheek bones Ramirez isnīt that mesmerizing any more! ;) And by all likelihood it was his handsome looks that made her fall for him in the first place, what else could it have been?
Itīs also hard to believe that they will actually execute Richard. He will probably die from some disease/old age before that happens!

Same here...there are cases that are so horrendous that I begin to doubt my own belief but then I remember that this person most likely has ppl in his/her life that love them. And their loved ones doesnīt deserve any more grief. Itīs bad enough that they have to live with the fact that they have a family member/friend thatīs a serial killer/rapist etc. I always try to compare the grief the family members of the killer might feel vs the relief the victims families might feel if the perpetrator is executed. I believe the grief is greater than the relief in most cases.

I always thought that she was sick in the head, with being turned on by his "bad boy" image, and also by the instant infamy she would gain by marrying him. R.R is one scary dude, even just looking at his ugly mug freaks me out.
He has NOTHING to offer his bride except for "you know what" and that is IT. If she had all of the cards in her deck, (she has about 1/2 in her deck) she would leave this freak, and find someone who is worth loving.

Does she really expect us to believe that she really think he is innocent? Even in Philips book she said that if you love somebody you only see that persons good side and not the bad. To me, that meant that she knew he did it but looked the other way. And since he has made statements all over the place about him being guilty what is there to question?? Itīs in writing and we can even hear his voice saying so on numerous videos here on the internet. Is she claiming they are fake?
Well...we all know she knows! But she wants to pretend she believe he is innocent so that we wonīt blame her for being with him just as much. Well, itīs not working !

Ofcourse she married him for his good looks and publicity. Sheīs not fooling us...sheīs probably not fooling him with that either. But she tries to fool herself. Poor woman!:(

Which mug are you referring to? Iīve seen two...One is, as you say, really ugly. But the other on (the first) I actually think he looked pretty good. To be honest

Haha...so Bundy had a foot fetish aswell? *Lol* Imagine two real "tough" guys (irony) writing to each other about...feet!?! Now, thatīs humor to me ;)

Lol he did when he was on the run he stole credit cards so he could be stockings or shoes cant remember what it was but i know he did it. She said she is going to kill herself as soon as he is executed and i think she said it around the time they married. Yeah he'll die from old age most likely.

As Iīve said a few posts up, Richard speaks spanish yes. They spoke spanish within the family. Richard has never lived in Mexico but his parents were born there and possibly even some of his siblings since heīs the youngest.
I think you can hear on his accent that itīs not a 100% american. Maybe now but not when he was caught.

This scumbag in southern CA in the 80's raped and killed several people. I am a little fuzzy as to how many, 14? and earned himself the moniker of the "Night Stalker" He terrorized LA and surrounding communities for months, police at first were hard pressed as to who he was as none of his victims lived tell about it till one night he broke into a home intent on raping a woman but she started screaming and he left. She gave a description to the police and they released a composite sketch to the media and if memory does serve me, a friend of his did think he resembled the drawing and was going to go to the police and a bunch of people saw him walking down a street and he looked so much like the guy they chased him down, somebody called the cops and before they could get there the mob went crazy on him.
you are correct with the number of counts he was charged with (though he claims far more, of course). your account of how he was actually captured is a little off though. he was also referred to as "The Valley Intruder" (most of his crimes were committed in the san fernando valley) and "The Walk-In Killer".
if you check wikipedia or even this site, there's a detailed account of what happened. as for your opinion of what rights a convicted rapist, child molester or murder has in prison...they should have NONE WHATSOEVER. in fact, i think once they are convicted and sentenced to death, the families of the victim(s) should be allowed to slowly torture them...then when THEY saw fit...open fire on them. to me, anyone who's convicted of a crime of that nature dehumanizes themselves so the question of what's humane and inhumane shouldn't even come into play...

Hi You all...
Great to be here, but one thing is bothering me. VERY MUCH!!!
This Karin is really making me sad or mad.
I love my dear friends Richard and Doreen Ramirez, and when I saw That Karin would put Richards letter up puplic, it really burned in my eyes and gave me a hole in my stomic.
I wonder why ppl. can think that way???
Richard is sitting inthere, can not give his own opinion or replies of all of you ppl. say or write.
Yes Richard has feelings too, alot!!!:rose:
Doreen can sit in her home open up her computer and see ppl. being stubid and mean to both her and her husband...That is not nice...
Richard and Doreen loves eachother very much and that is the end of this argument you ppl. have on. Trust me it is real love, and the other girls you mention Richard is writing with...HA HA..lol!!! Think for your own, who is the one playing with who??? I can tell, but you all know.... I know you know!!!
Doreen has been through a lot ****, and she does NOT deserve to be talked about in that way, she is simply to sweet- polite and a warm- nice person to be a target of **** in some ppl. mouths!!!
I wonder if you ppl. have been in REAL love and would do anything for your wife and husband.... That is the greatest gift on earth- beside having children.
Richard has done things in his past, donīt we all- I have done alot of **** too...more worse than others...
And Richard and Doreen knows!!!! Dont tell them all the time...
A last I will tell you ppl. one thing -we are other ppl., who is near/close to this lovely couple, and we are lauging of your other ppl.`s IQ...
Have a great day...I will and I am sure Doreen and Richard will too!!!!

RR gave his "opinion" by raping, robbing, torturing, sodomizing and terrorizing Old People and Children. And Justice gave RR It's "Opinion."

RR does have feelings, BAD feelings. Do you think that the victims and thier families might have some feelings too?

RR has done things in the past......"We all have?" Speak for yourself.

You are laughing at other ppls IQ?

I will have a great day...When RR gets Justice for his actions.

Sorry about your eyes and your stomic. Maybe you should consult with a doctor.

Hi again:) Well it is ok, you all have your opinion, and I have mine.
When Doreen gets sad, because of someone misunderstood her or talks bad of her, I have to react as her friend. And I will allways do that for both her and Richard.
Well, Personality disorder is a sickness, which comes either of born with it ( I am- from my mother), And it has gets a lot worse because of bad childhood and so on... Dont feel soory for me, that is NOT why I am writing it....
Richard has been through a lot of the same, and we are just as hurt inside, and have become a very dark mind...YES...Very dark lusts and way of thinking...
Have a lot diffrent way to think, than "NORMAL" ppl.
I hope you get the picture now....Meds. is helping me...
Richard did not get help before he got in jail....
All this is why Richard and I are friends...
We see eachother in eachother and can talk without any one calls us sick or all kind of stubid things...
Doreen is one of the few"NORMAL" thinking ppl. who can see the good in us, and respect our dark mind...
So do my husband, and yes I am a very loving and carring mother and wife...
I just have my dark side and lust...I forfill through Richard, movies and books..
This is enough for me, hope you will try understand.. Dont step on ppl. you really dont know...
All those victims and their family...It is not good, but they were in the way of Richard then.... Yes Richard thinks very different now, he has learn ppl. has feelings and can be nice on this planet... Just as I tought through my husband...
Be nice to Doreen, PLEACE!!!!:rose:

Let me get this straight...."All those victims and their family...It is not good, but they were in the way of Richard then...."

It is more then "not good." What if were YOUR child or Husband or Sister was who had "got in his way?"

I am glad that RR is different now. 22+ years caged up like a rabid dog will do that to one's ways of "thinking."

I glad he has learned that ppls has "feelings" Now Justice needs to be served.

I am sorry for your "illness," and you might want to seek professional help. Especially if you and RR think alike, as you stated before.

Richard is a weasel. Too bad the mob wasn't allowed to finish the job. Usually you can't find a cop when you need one. :cuss:

Wife of Richard Ramirez. I think you need to lay off her and leave her

Richard if she wants to. I Frequent stay in touch with Doreen thru Email's to
her. I think she's a great lady. and friend and she is not a Groupie and some Jerks call her she Truly loves Richard. as for the Bimbo that wants to know what a 666Angel I got that name from my Group I was in if it's any of your

welcome to come and Live with me. Yes I'm a Satanist aslo no I don't beleive in Violence but Richard will always be my Friend and have a place in my Heart

Richard should not have been allowed to Marry. He gave up his rights when he started slaughtering people and taking away THIER rights.

I wish California would just give RR his "dose" and move on down the road.

"Yes I'm a Satanist aslo no I don't beleive in Violence but Richard will always be my Friend and have a place in my Heart" FYI RR believes in violence. Doesnt that pose a kind of conflict of interests?

Wish he was free all you want. Aint gonna change anything though.

Some time back a rumor was reported that Ramirez was ill and likely to die of natural causes before he could be exectuted. Does anyone know if there was anything to this story, or was it just a story?

In 2005 RR was taken from SQ to an undisclosed hospital in SF for resperitory problems. The articles was at SFGATE.com (Not sure if that is the link, but that was where it was posted.) I think it was June 2005.

There have also been rumors from "Prison Guards" who claim he is in "ill health."

Or you can just believe his "wife" Doreen who says he is as fit as a fiddle.

Lets just say "prison life" hasnt been "agreeing" with him.

You can also find out the status on ALL of his Appeals here.....

http://appellatecases.courtinfo.ca.gov/search/dockets.cfm?dist=0&doc_id=327756

Please take note of the terms "HC Denied" and "Death Sentence affirmed." You can actually download a PDF of his entire appeals case so you dont have to take the word from me, or his "wife."

Hope that helps dispell the myths. :)

Maybe the perpatrator should have thought about the consequences before slaughtering and torturing old people and molesting children.

There is no comparison. At least RR's family will have a chance to say goodbye. It is unfortunate that RR put his family through this, it is much more unfortunate that he put all of the vitims and thier families through this. As I said....no comparison.

I feel sorry for the perp's family and friends--especially the ones who had never seen an evil side of the monster, and did NOT see this coming @ all. That being said, I do agree that the one who should have tho't about what would happen with HIS family and friends (let alone the victims and THEIR family and friends) was the PERP!!!! Of course, perps like this don't really care, have emotions, they act and say as they look around @ others to see how THEY act and talk.

The PERP should have tho't about the fact that he was breaking his mama's heart. HE should have said, oh, my mama would NOT like this @ all, she would cry, and be ashamed, and.....no, I don't think I will rob, steal, rape and murder tonight.
