..it appears Ben Fawley had charmed his way into his landlord's will
Despite the gag order issued by the judge overseeing the grand jury proceedings in this case, Fawley's landlord Sam Forrest spoke to WJLA ABC8 News about Ben Fawley's character. Forrest, calling himself a great judge of character says he now realizes he was fooled by the only named suspect in the death of Taylor Behl. At least two people were summoned to testify on Wednesday, one of those, Forrest says that he now realizes that he was deceived by Ben Fawley. He believed that Fawley was a very likeable guy. Apparently, he believed Fawley was a genuine friend, as he added Ben Fawley to his will, leaving Fawley the four-unit apartment building where Fawley was living. Forrest says that he now hates himself for believing anything that the "smooth talking" Ben Fawley had to say.

Smooth-talking subjects are easy to be fooled by. I thought I had a pretty good creep meter, but even I've been seriously deceived by one. Luckily, I got the picture after a short time.
You can't pick these people out the first time you meet them. There are no real tell-tale signs until you've spent an amount of time with them. One thing you can be sure of though, they will never be mean right to your face. They'll charm the he!! out of you.

What a grotesque situation to realize you'd been duped by someone like that. People like Fawley make a career out of prowling for needy people.
Wonder how long he knew Fawley before adding him to his will? I'd call that guy plain lucky they caught Fawley before his number came up.

Yes absolutely. If creeps showed their true colors from the outset they'd have nobody to fool. I think it's a mistake to think you can't be duped. Speaking of anybody in general here, including myself. Most people probably could be if a clever con artist could locate a person's vulnerablabilities. We've all got those.

Ben F is right where he belongs! What a creep. There is no telling how many other young girls BF has taken advantage of in the past! Best to have this guy off the streets for good!

I was wondering the same thing about TB meeting up with the others to skateboard that night. I also am curious, and havn't heard who she talked to briefly on her phone before leaving her dorm that night. Could it have been BF asking her to meet him so he could get his borrowed skateboard back?
There are just so many unknowns about this case. I am hoping the coming week will bring out more information.

Shattered Dreams: A Tale of Two NightmaresFiled under: Stories, Taylor Behl, Pamela Vitale — admin @ 8:53 am
Once upon a time, not too long ago, lived two women very much alive. Today both are dead, killed by Skulz. You see Taylor Behl and Pamela Vitale had a lot in common yet nothing at all. Both women were murdered and Goth with the shadow of darkness loomed.

My DH made this remark over breakfast when I told him BF was going to inherit the 4 units
"Wonder if Ben was planning on killing the landlord down the road?"
(hm, you never know..he did take an enormous amount of pics of that apt )
Spider - Thanks for the interesting article
Anni - I also wonder how her scent got to that house & why BF parked the car near there. I wish we knew more of the grand jury testimony.

I've been reading a lot of Steve Huff's analysis of Ben Fawley... he thinks he may have borderline personality disorder. I think it's a possibility.

I am not surprised to hear that Benny-boy was baked into the will of his landlord. He is obviously very good at manipulating people. We can all be deceived by these types of people if they know enough about us. They use this information to their advantage and they are very good at it.
The lucky people figure it out before they are victimized (either by theft, sex or violence) For a short period of time I think BF was rather good at manipulating those around him. I've speculated before that Benny-boy probably used some of the details that Taylor posted on her lj to his advantage. I doubt seriously that he coincidently started to sport the Johnny Depp look for a change of pace.
I am not suggesting that Benny-boy was going to kill his landlord but I am suggesting he used a few ounces of manipulation to wedge himself into the will.

I was reading Cinos' LJ and was reading some of the comments left for him on his most recent entry. Seems he contradicted himself about knowing/not knowing where the spot in Mathews was that TB's body was found. Anyways, while reading the comments I stumbled upon this LJ user who claims BF had/has a purple dildo named Mr.Purple and he states that it would be the most incriminating piece of evidence if found. He won't elaborate, although prodded by a few of his readers. He states that he cannot talk about it because of the gag order? But as far as I can tell he is not covered by the gag order?
Here is the link, just do a little digging and read all his comments.

People like BF will try to get any "perks" they can by using their mastered manipulation tactics. I would almost bet on it that Ben was extremely generous to his landlord (or so it seemed to the landlord) and that putting Ben in his will was a way of paying him back for his generosity.
People like him intentionally look for people in need, help them out, and then try to get all they can out of them.

Sam Forrest? Interesting gentleman, although I haven't run into him in years and years. Here's a Style Weekly piece on him:
"Adventure Interrupted
A seasoned world traveler sold his possessions and started his biggest journey yet. Then he hit a border.
by Melissa Scott Sinclair
August 10, 2005
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. So goes the old, oft-quoted Asian proverb. But what proverb can comfort the man who has already come more than a thousand miles, only to be told to turn around by a Kazakhstan border guard? Renowned woodworker and artist Sam Forrest left Richmond July 11 for what he hoped would be his greatest adventure — traveling the Silk Road from China to Western Europe. The Silk Road is a series of trade routes across Asia and Europe that were established around 500 B.C. and were traveled for 2,000 years.
“I was ready to go a couple years,” Forrest says. He had long wanted to travel the fabled road and was disenchanted with his isolated life in Louisa County, where, he says, the neighbors wouldn’t even tell him thank you when he gave them fresh-picked squash. Forrest searched Richmond for someone who would go with him as his researcher and travel companion, but found no volunteers.
So after exhibiting 25 pieces of his handcrafted furniture at La Différence, Forrest set off for Shanghai July 11. He then flew to Xian, a city in east-central China where one of the best-known Silk Road routes originated. From there he traveled west on a bus over 800 miles of desert.
Seeking to avoid passing through Pakistan, Afghanistan and their neighbors, Forrest thought he’d take the northern Silk Road route through Kazakhstan, a former Soviet republic. At the border, however, he was advised that he would need a visa to proceed and then learned it was too late to arrange all the other visas required to continue his journey. Not only that, Forrest relates, but people told him, “You don’t want to go with the Arabs, they’ll kill you.”
Forrest is no stranger to rough roads. As a younger man, he attempted to travel around the world. On the first try, he made it to Mississippi. On the second, Mexico City.
“On the fourth try,” he says, “I got all the way around.”
He backpacked through Indonesia, traversed Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway and crossed the Atlantic Ocean alone in a boat. “Twenty-five years ago you could go anywhere except Libya,” he says.
But things have changed. So Forrest turned around and went home.
It wasn’t a wasted trip, he says. Forrest marvels at the kindness of the people he met, who guided him around and invited him to eat with them. “They have elevated human relations to its pristine form,” he says of the Chinese. And he saw firsthand the effects of massive economic change in China — the proliferation of cell phones, the construction of a superhighway across the desert.
Now Forrest is trying to figure out what to do next. In preparation for his trip, he sold his 34-acre Buddha Ranch in Louisa County and most of his possessions, including his woodworking machinery. He won’t make furniture anymore, he says, at least not soon. “My well runs dry,” he says.
Forrest now resides in a studio apartment in Carver, surrounded by the few things he kept: a canoe, a finely turned table, some mismatched wooden chairs and a family of antique meat grinders. And there’s a world map on the wall, of the colorful classroom variety, to plan where his next steps will take him. S

Myfailures is a true failure. We do not know that Taylor "trusted" BF. We don't even know that Taylor and BF had sex that night--consensual or otherwise (I believe that BF had sex with Taylor that night but who knows whether she was a willing or even breathing participant). One of the hallmarks of "successful" deviant sex practices is the aspect of trust. I cannot believe, that, as a 17-yr-old who had told her friends and acquaitances that she found BF "creepy" and was ending their relationship (whatever it was), Taylor would have trusted BF enough to try something as dangerous as erotic asphyxiation. I've thought this all along. She was not able to make a decision as an adult about such a practice. BF should have known this.

Ok...now myfailures has a new entry that gives a link to someone who will answer questions about BF's "Purple Dildo"? I sure don't know what it's got to do with anything other than myfailures stated that if it was found it would contain the most incriminating evidence against BF. I do know however that during the search warrant they confiscated 2 dildos.

I've never heard that she went to Richmond on consecutive weekends - I'm sure that would have come out via the parents by now. I've only heard of two visits - one in February and one in April.

I think myfailure's yankin' more than just a few chains. While there may be some later tale of dildos and whatnot, I really doubt that this myfailure guy has a serious line on any major piece of evidence other than evidence that Ben likes it subbie-style. And even if that's accurate, how does this guy know, unless...?
Yeah. I don't think so. You'll notice there's no real disclosure going on on the "benspurpledildo" site, just some anony-mouse who won't tell, can't tell, isn't telling. He's just playing to see how many of us will actually go look.
I did. Heh. Fell for it. If there does turn out to be some evidence re: toys, etc., that comes out, I don't think that'll be a huge shocker to anyone, will it? I mean, we already know Ben's a freakboy and it's not because of anything in the toy department.
Personally, I don't care if Ben Fawley kept a stable of pony-girls and goat-boys, as long as they were all legal, safe, sane and consensual. My concern is that Taylor was murdered and it's being made to look like "she was kinky, therefore, she deserved it." We don't know a thing other than what Ben Fawley and friends feel like telling us, and I doubt the veracity of those stories. Even Cino's contradicting himself. I'd have to have more than just Kevin's word for the "highly illegal" statement, even. Something stinks, and it's not just a purple dildo.

Lily - you just became my favorite poster on this site. Yes, something stinks and it starts with the "highly illegal" comment and ends with a purple dildo right up Benny-boys backdoor. It's no wonder a gag order has been slapped on the GJ proceedings. Until an arrest is effected on Benny-boy we will all have to sit tight. We will not get any more official information on this case until the complaint is filed.
I think the time has come for us to dismiss the notion that this case has anything to do with purple. The only color worth discussing in this case is the color green. (jealousy)
