Knowing what we know so far, it's almost too chilling to go through all of skulz's photos on his Photobucket account. If he planned into the future, documented the past, there are any number of possible meanings to his snapshots. As far as I can see, this isn't photography, folks but snapshots. Photography speaks to a wider audience; snapshots document things far more private, meaningful only to one person or a limited number of people in their lives. These snapshots document things important in Fawley's private world...these images meant something, I'm sure, only to himself, like his own private language. Under "Not Mine", there's a spinning panoramic film of "LivingroomFinished" by "Karen using my PC & camera". I wish I could slow that dang dizzying thing down to see the images flashing by. Can't help but wonder if this is the same Karen (aka eviljupiter, juupiter) with the jazzy blue car)...just wondering....I am not saying it is, just curious.

Did you see all of the maps he saved onto his Pbucket account? Dumb. He didn't have it all. He was looking for something or someone...

Whats with his fascination with abandoned or dilapidated buildings and equipment? What was his major? There is no beauty in any of his photos. Its all rather dark and depressing, imo.

Haha. I guess I'm not the only one with that question!
I hate to say this, but I actually think the photos are pretty good. They do kinda capture Richmond in a weird sort of way. Looking at them makes you feel like you're there...I recognize everything in those photos. Richmond is an interesting city...

Silly Skulz has a photo of Skateboard Kevin (sounds like Barbie's brother). Whether this is "the" Kevin mentioned in Taylor's investigation is unknown but hey!
1. He's a skateboarder and on the goth scene.
2. He knows BF, well enough to get his pic taken.
3. Taylor would tell him about her "highly illegal" activities because who else would care? Only a friend of Ben's would care.
I know from working with my mentally ill patients that they are always on the lookout for new hideouts and Ben's strange fascination with dilapitated buildings brings drug use to mind.

I wouldn't personally call it "art" or anything else for that matter...
Actually old barns, farm equipment, etc. can be nice subjects, my dad loves stuff like that, you know, from the old days. I'm taking a photography class, and don't pretend to know anything about photography (yet, lol) and I've found some neat old farms that make great pictures, it's really in what the person sees in the pictures they take. However, I don't see how a picture of a toilet bowl for instance can be anything... these pictures make me think, he wasted a ton of film!

IF it is the same Kevin (and Skateboard Kevin sounds like another weird link, considering the 3 skateboarders) that definitely challenges Kevin's claim that he didn't know Ben or meet him until the Wednesday after Taylor disappeared.

However... remember the one link we do know about any and all Kevin's involved is that he worked at the Village Cafe! Village Cafe. Ben also worked there.
Wanna know something quirky that made my eyebrows raise immediately? How would Mr. I-Don't-Know-Nothin-Kevin know Taylor enough to observe her having dinner with AN OLD BOYFRIEND? The chick had only been on campus 2-3 weeks! Also, remember Taylor had come down early in Feb to visit with Mike Cino? I'm sure they all know each other.
As big as San Diego is, our goth scene here is very closeknit. I can go to New Orleans, Miami, Vegas and Richmond and fit right in. We usually end up at the same shows and venues.
Kevin knew Ben knew Taylor knew Jake knew Karen knew whoever took her life. Also, in Taylor's LJ, on Sept 19'05 some jerky jerk wrote "sorry you're dead :(" or something like that. Hmm...
Sept 19'05 was a busy day online for all of these people.

One more thing...
Why did Ben in one of his many blog entries remind his friends to "keep quiet" about what was going on in his life (around Sept 19)? Umm hello, he blabs about anything and everything, he's Mr. Celeb... why wouldn't he want to solict help in finding Taylor? Why? Why?
Not once anywhere did he offer condolences for this child. As intimate as they were? It's odd to me. Kinda like Scott and OJ out golfing when they should be looking for "the real killer." Ben loved being the celebrity, this would've been his BIG CHANCE to use his own personal photos of Taylor to aid in her rescue efforts. Talk about photo opp credit, he knows damned well skulz.org would be his ticket to fame, if only...
My spidey-sense says BennyBoy has blood on his hands. And this time it's not his own.

BennyBoy - I like that!
Well, I am now onto Kevin. Kevin with the cocaine charge, Kevin with the attitude. Kevin who DOES know BF, and his pics are on BF's Bucket o' photos!
Maybe his only crime is that he knew BF was a lose canon that needed to be stopped becuase he was about to explode....maybe he's more involved than that....???

How freaky is this:
(this is a caption from Ben's deviantart.com on a photo submitted August 31, 2005. Murder on the brain?)
:: 30 August 2004 Tropical Storm Gaston dumped rain on Richmond, Virginia flooding the area known as Shockoe Bottom. I am posting this photo a year after I took it due to the local news comparing this with Hurricane Katrina's destruction on 29 August 2005. I never liked the local "news" in Richmond, as it is more 'public service' than news. Where the headline story on the TV news is often an elderly woman getting a new air-conditioner rather than the murder that took place at VCU. The flooding in Richmond, Va was bad. In March 2004 a building fire at VCU killed one. There was little talk of the person who died or how and why that person died. The flooding was bad, but it is nothing next to the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. In a small town that gives little coverage to real tragedy and news I can see how they compare a small flood to Hurricane Katrina’s destruction. I now see why Richmond, Virginia had the highest murder rate in the country for years. ::

Nancy ---
I'm tracking down a link for you -- off the top of my head ---
She did not die in the fire --- she was relying on oxygen and had medical problems -- after the fire broke out, they cut electricity to the area, she was a resident --- without electricity her machine would not function, and she died as a result of that. So indirectly death due to the fire.
Be back with a link here in a minute --- I'm no great searcher, that's why I come here -- for all you folks links. ;)

There are a ton of murders in Richmond. 63 so far this year.
Richmond has been known as the murder capital of the US for quite a while. But he is correct in his assessment about the importance the media place on it: None.
Very seldom do you hear them up in arms over the extremely high murder rate. Nor do you hear about the poor rate of solving those murders. It's like it's invisible. As if everyone is afraid to talk about it or something. Since it's been this way for decades, maybe they've grown used to it? Or possibly have decided they can't change it, so keep it low key so it doesn't hurt any possible revenues coming into the city.
It's a disgrace is what it is.
And just so happens that The Fan is the area of the city with the highest crime rates.

I was about to ask the same question!
What murder at VCU and why title it "Murder On The Brain"?
Was this murder on his brain?
Did he know the person who was murdered at VCU?
I think BF has a Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde personality. Dr Jekyll only when he is on his meds.

An old entry on this blog, he has a Taylor Behl section if you look in the list on the right side of the page. I may not always agree with his opinions, but he provides a lot of links + news stories. If you view the Taylor Behl category -- the entries on fires will be nearer the bottom of the page, they had discussed this very early on. I also recommend viewing the comments, as his readers often supply more links too!

Thanks for putting this thread up! I tried last night to get there, and couldn't get it to work for the life of me!
Researcher -- I'm guessing you are using the little "http" button up top for the links -- it auto fills in the http part, just delete that first and then paste your full link in place of it.
Blu - Thanks for the site on Belle Isle!
I agree - there was Skulz + there was Benny Babyface Boy.
This stood out to me reading what his ex g/f and friends had to say about him... One ex commented she could never hate him, even if he was horrible to her, because there was that other part of him, and she just wanted him to get help. (my paraphrase) This was in "Ben Fawley's Criminal Past" thread, great article there.
http://boards.courttv.com/showthread.php?threadid=242318
Then Cino talked of seeing both sides in his comment that ended with "Beware of Skulz" -- My take was -- Cino had thought Ben was really persecuted by all these people until they moved out, then Ben moved back to the old place -- in the process Cino began to question how much had really happened to Ben, and how much were just Ben's delusions and twists on reality -- once he had experienced it first hand.

"And just so happens that The Fan is the area of the city with the highest crime rates."
That's just so wrong. The crime rate in the Fan doesn't begin to compare with parts of Northside, Church Hill and Southside. I've lived in the Fan for 30+ years and have no idea where you came up with such nonsense.
The facts are easy to obtain for anyone who cares to look them up.
Richmond is a relatively safe place if you avoid the neighborhoods with the street corner drug dealers.

The Richmond Police Department reports this "nonsense" as you call it.
So far this year there have been 1694 crimes reported in The Fan (not including the VCU neighborhood).
The next closest is Jeff Davis with 921 crimes reported.
The Fan leads the city in these particular crimes reported:
Sex offenses, burglary, theft, and vehicle theft.
It is second in the city in robbery and assault.

Let's look at murders instead of lumping serious crimes in with 'thefts' of bicycles, cds and potted plants from the high-dollar gentified Fan homes. In addition, raw numbers don't take density into account or the tendency of some people to call the police over every little thing that disappears off the front porch.
Back to murders...can you find the Fan on the linked map? There are some murders shown on the fringes along Cary St., Boulevard and W. Grace, but the heart of the Fan is amazingly BLANK. Oops, missed the one on Lombardy down the street from the 7-11 on Broad St. Not bad for a neighborhood containing approximately 5,000 buildings - many multi-unit.

I didn't say The Fan had the highest murder rate. I said it had the highest crime rate. Which it does.
Robbery, assault, sex offenses, vehicle theft are a little more serious than a stolen potted plant from someone's stoop.
Go and take a look at the crimes reported in your neighborhood.
I can understand wanting to be defensive of your neighborhood, but it is what it is.

"Sex offenses, burglary, theft, and vehicle theft."
You're the one who brought theft into the discussion. ;) Stealing plants off porches is theft. Stealing cds is theft. Stealing a car is theft. They're all crimes against property.
I'm not being defensive, only trying to be accurate. One of my hobbies is criticizing City Hall btw.
Earlier posts were on the general subject of murder (interesting map, no?) You used statistics including theft, burglary and vehicle theft - crimes against property. I think it would be more accurate to use crimes against persons - like armed robbery and home invasions. Assaults too.
And then there's the issue of only using reported crimes. Certain parts of this town are less likely to report crimes to the police (or cooperate with investigations for that matter.)
I grew up in downtown Baltimore and D.C. and stand by my assertion that crime in the Fan is not bad.
Now, maybe if we could somehow get rid of all 30,000 VCU students, and the bars, the area would be quiet and peaceful... just kidding, I do like living here. Then again, the parking would be much better without them.

I'm thinking that the person who checked that entry for spelling and grammar errors is probably Hildybrandt (who's mentioned in another thread). I know her...she's a gifted writer and very much aware of correct spelling and grammar. Also in one of the links posted in that thread (the story about the ice cream man) skulz makes a comment and jokes that she can email the errors in his response later.
