The "Ignore" feature of this board is such a handy little thing to have. I have used it for awhile now and it has made my time on this forum much more enjoyable.

IMO, the apologists for Karla and those "self proclaimed amateur experts" just aren't worth getting aggravated over.

To continue to feed them with replies and arguments is just feeding into THEIR narcissistic qualities. It's better not to enable this personality disorder in people.

There are some caveats to the ignore feature, if another poster quotes the person you are ignoring, unfortunately you will not only see what is written, but it is in BOLD dark letters.

Also, without intending to, you can appear to be responding to an ignored poster because another poster has responded to the ignored poster and then you post to the responder.

It sounds a bit convoluted, but this is exactly what happened to me and then I was attacked for reading the posts of the ignored poster!

It is my opinion that personal attacks and ridicule, only serve to impede discussion and appear to me to be a technique used by those who wish, for whatever reason, to derail the debate.

Some of my favorite discussions on these message boards have been with posters who do not share my opinions. The hallmark of these posters is respectful and intelligent discourse. The very best, apologize when there is a misunderstanding and agree to disagree.

IMO it is a pity that there is even a need for an ignore feature, but it certainly does help a bit not to constantly read personal attacks.

Feeling a tad stupid here, but I don't know how to use the ignore feature. I can't even find it! Help? I have someone I'd like to put on ignore now.

Don't feel stupid.....I couldn't find it the first time either.

Here's how you do it:

Click on user cp at the top of the page.
Then click on edit ignore list.
Add their name then click on update list.

OR

Click on that poster's profile.
At the bottom of the page you will see "Add......to your ignore list.
Click on that. Done.

I sorta agree with you HM. But to me when you do something like that you are just ignoring "the elephant sitting in your livingroom!" The Posters are in violation of the TOS's and shouldn't be allowed to just continue their wrath day after day!

JMO and MOO!!

We've got to start remembering this wonderful little feature. When they get tired of nobody posting to them or answering their posts, maybe they will get the hint and go elsewhere. I, for one, have definitely got to start practicing what I preach!!
